Forums - Nintendo - HD rumble

Back in the Wii days, at least the gimmicks meant it was all cheap.

The price is still quite comparable when accounting for inflation. What happened is that the cost of high-end hardware came down with the adoption of standard x86 hardware found in laptops. So the other platforms are much cheaper than the PS360 were.

It sounds like an useless gimmick that will be used relevantly in 2-3 games only

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

It s great technology but ultimately it s just going to be something useless that we made the system expensive for nothing.
Like the joycons

People saying it's useless I think don't know what they're talking about.

When I first saw it, I was thinking that it'd be something very useful in VR. I'm not saying the Switch will use it like that, but the tech itself can be very useful for making VR even more convincing.

With that in mind, I think the potential for something bigger is there. Just is a question on whether or not it's easy to implement and/or if it will take off.

I despise rumble and had it turned off since the Gamecube. I will never enable rumble in my games again. I bought a Sixaxis for my Superslim PS3 just to not use the DS3.

I think it's slick and the next best thing in gaming. >>> VR

Nintendo does it again. Sony and Microsoft will follow shortly. Scorpio is probably already looking to apply it somehow.

I can definitely see it becoming a standard in gaming.

I'm not sure what the point is?
Guess the material by stroking a texture?
It's still not going to stop your hands from going through a virtual surface but maybe it feels good. Could be a good fit for VR porn.

It will certainly make the girl gamers very happy

hahahaha. this. Another useless gimick tbh, maybe for extremely specific activities it might come in handy
