Forums - Nintendo - There is no reason to act like Nintendo will never cut switch price!

All that decry for the high price of  the switch... Exaggerating!

Some people acting like Nintendo will never reduce its price, okay they didn't do it for the wii u because of some economic obstacles, but I would guess that this time Nintendo has provided for the future to be able to cut switch price with ease, and by this I mean without being forced to bleed money and keep making sufficient profit.

I remind you, 3DS got a ( excessive, they lost money due to the expensive 3D effect, they got back to profitability with 3DS xl at 199$ ) price cut after 5 months (79$), Gamecube 50$ in 2002 and another 50$ 2003...

I feel that Nintendo will sell as much as they can at that cost and then they will decrease it to a considerable extend, unless the device flies off the shelves...

I just fear of joy cons manufacturing cost.... I hope it won't be like Wii u gamepad case, which was its biggest detriment, commercially and financially.

Nintendo can't have repeated such a mistake!

So, Nintendo switch could go to the 250$ sweet spot ( not for handheld only console gamers though :( ) very soon!

it's better to sell something at 299$ for six months and later for less, than to sell it with a lower price  but for a much time, people will appreciate that you slashing the price and at least you earn more money for some months.

Early adopters are early adopters because they can easily afford the high cost...

well hopefully it drops in April

And soo will the xbox scorpio high price and ps4 pro's,what's your point?

It's not the most consumer friendly to cut price soon after release. As you mentioned 3DS, when they did that price cut they gave early adopters gifts as a "sorry"

But this is what I would do if I were Nintendo.

The system is new, so it will sell well for a few months regardless. Then come holiday season package a game with the system at the same price $300. Maybe even Mario Odyssey. Sure you miss out on some individual Mario sales, but getting switch into more hands is more important.

Then do a price cut to $250 come like March 2018 or something. Then they can probably just hang out at that price and toss in bundles here and there.

SERIOUSLY, STOP IT...

What my thread has to do with PS4 or XB1? Nothing!

Yeah, we had many drops for the WiiU.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Probably by next year when the console becomes a massive commercial flop.

They'll only cut it if it doesn't sell well at $299 and even then they may not. I'll remind you that the Wii U deluxe only dropped $50 in the four years it was on the market.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Wii u is the only Nintendo console that never had a price drop owing to the costly gamepad!

Why switch would be the second one?
