As far as I can see, the Switch dock price is pretty consistent with the price of laptop docks in general.

If you think the FCC certifies every 99c Chinese cable that's resold on EBay and Amazon, it isn't me who doesn't know what they're talking about.

Care to tell me how Nintendo expects to prevent users from pluging in USB-C chargers bought on ebay? They've already announced such devices can be used to charge the system on the go. It charges with "any standard cable according to official statements". So please go ahead with a technical reason why they let you use just any standard cable to charge it, but not for video output?
If they wanted to prevent anyone from using just any old cable, they wouldn't have used a USB-C port. So again, you don't know what you're talking about.

Did you not pay attention when the whole cheap usb-c's cords were frying peoples electronics? |
Do you even have a basic understanding of how electricity works?
Care to explain how Nintendo intend on preventing users from using those cheap cords on their Switch, when they allow "any standard USB-C cable" to charge the device? Ohh right. Nothing. It would just fry it because the faulty cables in question output a higher than expected voltage as soon as it's connected. The best you can do is build in some protection circuits to try and filter or take the brunt of a voltage spike, but even then there's only so much those protection circuits are designed to handle.
Furthermore, there's nothing Nintendo, Apple or anyone else could do anything to prevent this any more than they can prevent users from using a Universal AC adapter with the wrong volltage output setting selecting from frying their devices aside from using a proprietary connector, and that isn't the case here.

This is basically a dick measuring contest at this point.
