If you're not willing to have grown up conversations then why bother posting with the big kids?

My conversation is as grown up as it needs to be. The situation doesn't require any grown up thinking. Am I going to convince you that MS not releasing a shit game, or not throwing more money down the drain on this trainwreck is a mistake? Unlikely. Are you going to convince me that canceling this turd was a bad thing for gamers? Nope :)

The difference is I actually have an argument to make. Your entire argument is your assumption that it MUST have been garbage because it was cancelled. All we know is that the game was taking longer, and costing more than expected, and that the relationship between Microsoft and Platinum Games over creative differences.

Absolutely none of that is "The game wasn't living up to Microsofts quality standards".

If you'd like to come back with something more substancial than "I didn't think it looked good" than feel free.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

He seems to be a Crapgamer suscriber so I wouldn't bother. Who would actually applaud the cancellation of a game and an exclusive no less.

Platinum Games issued a statement.

https://www.platinumgames.com/official-blog/article/9223

It's not saying much other than they are saddened by the situation and wish they could have made the game, as well as sking fans to look forward to Nier, GRANBLUE FANTASY and LOST ORDER.

Usually when a broken game is released gamers are furious. Now I'm reading here they should release those games anyway, go figure. More quality games would obviously be best for gamers, but no game at all is still better than half-baked, downgraded tech mess.

Phantom Dust isn't cancelled, its just been scaled back to a simple Xbox port.

Not everything MS shows comes quickly, they've just had a better record than some of their competitors.

That's...really kind of splitting hairs. It went from making a whole new game, to just rereleasing the old game on the Xbox. Like FF7 remake, and the PS4 port of FF7. If they had announced the full remake, and then said they were just going to release the port, that isn't really making good on that earlier claim.

Well from my understanding the original plan was a remake, now its a "re-release" (essentially a simple port).

FF7 is already playable on many devices and easily accessible for a low price. The same can't be said for Phantom Dust, its a less technically dated game, and more people will probably experience it on X1 than ever before. Bottomline, a port of a rare, cult classic is better than nothing.

Phantom dust is a 2006 game. An xbox 360 game.
Isn't a "simple port" of an xbox 360 game.. just making it backwards compatible?

If they aren't adding, remastering, or remaking anything how it is any different than games like Alan wake that are now on the xb1?

Well Alan Wake is flatout emulation... the X1 is pretending to be a 360 to run it.

Phantom Dust might be using some emulation, but they also have to update the online features to work on X1. So its not just running the original Xbox game.

For example, look at SNK arcade game on Xbox and Playstation consoles. Its very likely using emulation to run the ROM, but more work is done to add features like online play, menus, and other things which is done through the console as opposed to just the ROM.

Here's hoping that Nier: Automata comes to Xbox One. This sucks big time.

Well, the producer had shown interest in porting Nier: Automata to Xbox One, but who knows.

Scale what? Is it that big of a deal? I don't keep up with new titles :P
