Alright. I thought it was going to continue to many more weeks. If no one else has a problem then feel free to continue making it.

How would more information ever be a problem on threads people can choose to pay attention to or not ?

Before I found out that he was only doing it until the end of the year.

I thought that it would be very clustered for making multiple threads. Especially during Slow months where it will have small changes to it.

Would have been better if it was 1 thread and just gets edited to match the current numbers.

It's not really a complicated process, so here's a slice..... There is a deliberation and several things are considered...

  • Mod History
  • Knowledge of the site (and community)
  • Any past moderator experience
  • How well you've been known to handle/judge a tough forum situation

Just examples. Can I ask what recent posts piqued your curiosity? What problems for the mods and community make you question the process?

I think the political threads are where the modding is the most suspect. It sort of feels like things that to people seem rather trivial and not a big deal are treated as such by mods. Maybe it's to do with where you're from .Where I am from, we discuss politics openly and don;t shy away from it while people in the US general don't like that. Maybe because of that things that seem ok with me are not so for the mods. But even without that difference, inferring something from previous posts and imposing a bias on individuals is not a good mod strategy and feel that happened to me last time. It felt like he said you did this stuff before and you did it while talking about the same subject, so you are doing it again. Maybe a combination of how to manage political threads plus developing biases from history is what I think is wrong here

Edit: Recent posts that peaked my interest are not in my head right now because I have finals coming up and haven't been as active so I can't say

I'm sure we could do better in political threads, or even moderation across the board, and we mean to. Our aim is always to improve the standard.

However, we are generally not "imposing" biases on people. The simple fact of the matter is that we only know users by their written word, and as such, we have to construct our view of who they are based on what we see in those tendencies. That's not to say we're going to judge somebody's character on a single post (unless it's particularly heinous), but over time, patterns do inevitably emerge. It would be irresponsible of us not to let people's posting history affect our decision making to a certain degree.

If there's an issue with your most recent moderation, I suggest you contact a head mod directly.

This is a circular argument. I started with proposing that you let us discuss our bans with the community and now we're back where we started. You telling me to contact the mod directly. And his non answer is why all this started in the first place. If you follow the entire chain of posts regarding my issue, you'll see that is my entire problem. That;s what haooeneh last time. The head mid told me to discuss it with the mod that did it and the mod that did it wasn't interested in reconsidering anything. Sigh..... This is going nowhere

There's a reason we don't allow the discussion of bans outside moderator sanctioned threads, such as this. More often than not, it would be used as an opportunity to create a scene, and clutter up the forums unnecessarily.

Now, you say you spoke to a head mod, who then directed you to the mod that banned you, and said mod "wasn't interested in reconsidering anything." If the issue here is that you feel you weren't adequately heard, you have a number of options available to you. You can - again - contact a head mod. Perhaps a different one, if you feel that's necessary. You can email us at vgchartzmods@gmail.com. The whole team has access to these emails, so at that point there's literally no way you're going to get ignored, if that's what you perceive has been the problem. As a last resort, you can of course lay out your grievance here in this thread, if you truly feel like the system has failed you. That said, if the real issue here isn't so much that you weren't heard, but rather that you simply didn't get the desired end result…..well, not everyone is going to get their moderations overturned. We're not always right, but just because you disagree with us on something, doesn't necessarily make you right either, and at the end of the day, it's our call.

As far as I can tell, looking over previous posts, CGI has been plenty accommodating on the matter, so I have to believe the issue here lies with you. I suggest you come to terms with the mod team's decision, and move on.

@Eagle367 you are allowed to discuss your bans with the community, the mod team just prefers it if you go directly to them with any issues or complaints. The OP directly states that this should be a place to talk about things we should and shouldn't be moderating, as well as improvements that may be made to the mod team and ruleset, so if you have an issue with why you were moderated and the response to your complaints, it's worth discussing it here with the community.

My parents used to tell me that while our countries politics were shitty, there are countries with better standards where corruption and hypocrisy don't reign supreme and they talked about US. They made it seem like it was this Uber powerful nation that had the entire world in it's grasp and were much farther ahead in tech than any other country and their military was so powerful but everyone was accountable and they made no distinction between president and poor person. Now I realise that they were highly mistaken or they were trolling me cause this country is so damn d'corript, they have am archaic 3 party system where both parties are corrupt, hypocritical and ruled by oligarchs. Their military is the strongest but is also kind of a joke(if you find militaries killing innocent people in foreign lands funny) and they are no longer the leader in tech, They have a horrible healthcare and education system and their infrastructure is just horrible. Also they act like cartoon caricatures of themselves for some reason. Now I can only laugh in disbelief at the stupidity of America and the naiveté of my parents/ or the awesome way they trolled me

You were banned for Generalizing and the note in your history spoke of attacking America and Americans in general, if I remember right.

Your problem is that you repeatedly get into arguments with people about America and you repeatedly get moderated for either attacking America or Americans. Naturally, being from Pakistan, you have a different view of the world to most people in the West (the majority of this forum) and I can only imagine how American foreign policy may have effected your life or those you know, however this forum still holds standards of discussion where the moderators will not allow straight up attacks on nations or the people who live there. This doesn't just apply to America, but to any country and it's people.

There is no discussion to be had on that.

VGChartz has always used a progression based system in regards to moderation, where repeat infractions will go against your record and you'll be met with harsher penalties as time goes along if your behavior and actions see no improvement. Considering you repeatedly get into trouble in political threads during discussions about America, maybe you should start to avoid those discussions or think more about what you're actually writing before you click the Submit button.

That's the older one I think which was given to me as an example for my history. The recent one was me talking about the US government and the US army. And I have every right to criticise them. That;s not generalizing that is specific and I don't care about any forum rules, I will not be silenced on that. The US army has done horrific things and I will continue to highlight them. Their actions led to a snowball effect which destroyed my city in many ways. We had major terrorist attacks every month after the US entered Afghanistan after 9/11. Before that, such attacks were non existent. The comment you oullpuout was very old and I understand I went overbiaro. But I won't be forced to listen to lies about the US army and givergover or to lie about them. They are at faukffor a lot of things and the world needs to know. And this is not for the American people who I think are really good, decent and honest. This is for the people in charge of the government and the military leadership, I just want to make that clear eithwit a y ambiguity whatsoever because I was banned for perceived ambiguity last time

I looked through your post history and that was your last ban, outside of the ban you had for making angry threads.

Could you link the post you're talking about? I'm fairly sure it's this post and the explanation I offered you is on the money - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8903108

Read the PM I just sent you.

Thanks. Going through my history, this is the most recent one. I think the last 2 or 3 sentences are harsh and me today won't approve of them. I am thinking more calmly and analytically about it. I was wrong on that post and I should've been banned. But my point still stands. The mod thread opens and closes a lot. We should be trusted to have civil discussions about our ban with the community and get somewhere, whether that somewhere is the one being banned admitting they were wrong like I am right now or whether the mod who banned it admitting a mistake was made and improving. Also as an educational excersize of what the community itself should be wary of. It's hard to admit when you're wrong whether you are banning someone or being banned. But the community should be trusted to do that on an open thread for everyone to see. It's good for the community in my opinion and adds to a maturity that should be there in internet discourse. Also sry for my lousy typos that's because this site doesn't work well with mobile phones and autocorrect. Thank you CGI-Quality and Thank You Carl

Happy to help.
