Without asking Miguel directly, I'm gonna go ahead and guess that it was locked because it adds literally nothing worthwhile to the forum, has very little content itself and pushes threads with relevant discussion out of the main page.

It's not the first time that a thread like that has been locked.

To answer any specific greivances or questions over how I handled Kerotan, and clear up some things for any future discussion. I don't have to do this, but I have some free time so I'll go ahead with it.

He was banned for ignoring two seperate warnings. Firstly, my request to drop the bias argument in-thread which I have every right to do as Miguel states in his OP here. Secondly, for ignoring the other rule in the OP about bringing a solid case to the table when you're complaining about a moderation. Kerotan didn't bring a solid case, and what he did bring was easily rebutted with cold, hard facts. If you have a legitimate concern with moderation there's no problem at all with posting it in this thread, but when your concern boils down to "The mod team doesn't like me because I'm a PlayStation fan", then it's not going to end well for you.

He has no permaban warning. What I posted in his ban message is simply a direction for how he should handle himself upon his return. If he carries on the way he's currently going then it's going to end up in further moderation which will lead to an eventual permaban. I guess this is easily misinterpreted, but it wasn't my intention.

Yes, we do let people off from time to time when they "break the rules" with small, insignificant infractions (See Kerotan's tbone argument here, as well as me letting off both Kerotan and Chazore in the past) The reason isn't because we're biased towards a, b or c but because the ruleset itself isn't there to be kept to at all costs. It's a guideline first and foremost which gives us flexibility in applying moderations to users, locking threads or guiding discussion ourselves. To quote - "VGChartz uses a progressive moderation system as a basic guideline for moderating users. This means that repeats of similar offenses will often result in harsher penalties, starting with a warning and working up." I can't say enough how this is a huge positive not just for us as a team, but the forum in general. It would be a huge shame to ban someone for X number of days for making a small joke when the intentions behind it are innocent. 

We've had moderators in the past who caused problems by targetting specific communities or religiously applying every rule to every situation and we ended up with instances of people being banned for excessive quote trees and posting multiple times in a row, among other small infractions. It's safe to say that we no longer have that kind of attitude on the team and I personally feel that it's an overwheling positive for the community in general. 

Furthermore, on Kerotan's ban length being upped on progression - "Any level of progression when it comes to ban length may be skipped in especially serious/heinous cases." Considering this isn't the first problem we've had in relation to Kerotan's arguments on bias and mod criticism, I upped the ban length to 14 days. In short, Kerotan was given an out and he decided to ignore that out to further push a paranoid agenda that's not only disrespectful to the mod team, but disrespectful to the members of the community in general who noticed what was wrong. He's not on a perma warning, but is being watched closely upon his return.

I hope this cleared up some things for whoever was interested.

Considering the link on vizioneck, I don't see any kind of reform happening.

Kinda forgot about the goings on from a week ago. All caught up. Hope Kerotan can hold it together and avoid a permaban.

Well, the best that we can hope for is that thread let him cool off some steam, and that he'll be calmed down by the time he comes back.

I'd like to bring up another issue, apart from the one other people were discussing about kerotan. I know full well that I'm not allowed to quote Sprash, but his post above Miquel's doesn't help in any way shape or form, in fact all that does is serve to egt a rise out of me on purpose, because Carl has already given the "stop it you two" message loud and clear a whole 3 days ago: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8375978 .

All that reply does is open the old and dusted conversation and it does nothing at all for one that was told to stop.

I don't want to break any said quote back rule, but he needs to knock crap like that off, especially when it's to something that isn't meant to be discussed further and was given clear evidence that it wasn't supposed to be either.
