For some reason the thread is limited to games with huge budgets made this gen and excluding handhelds, so the only possible answer is NA (though I assume that some of these expensive games are being developed nowadays with multinational teams).

Don't forget EU made the best Batman game in existence. :) Their rendition of DMC was also great too, despite the backlash it received.

I'm still going with Japan though, although I'm American. I do acknowledge that EU makes some great games. I just think Japan is first, America 2nd, and lastly EU.

For me, it's Japan, no contest. Nintendo, Square Enix, and Atlus alone are better than anything the other regions have in my opinion.

Until Dawn, Killzone, Wipeout, everything by housemarque, Horizon Zero Dawn, everything by Quantic Dream, Rayman origins and legends and of course the Witcher series.

The title of the thread and the OP ask two very different questions.

If you're talking "AAA" games on home consoles and PC, then of course it's America. The highest-budget, highest-selling games on those platforms are from Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Bethesda, Naughty Dog, Electronic Arts, Bungie -- all American studios.

If you're talking about games in general, I'd argue Japan is superior, although N. America is a close second. Japan has Nintendo EPD, Monolith Soft, Capcom (when it tries), From Software, JAPAN Studio, Platinum, Bandai Namco, Chunsoft, Atlus, etc. North America has Retro, Insomniac, Blizzard, DrinkBox, Monolith, etc.

I voted Europe but it's stupid to compare regions. In my mind Japan is the number 1 country but they can't really compete with the whole european continent (notably germany, uk, sweden, france and poland) or the us+canada.
