Forums - Nintendo - Why I think Nintendo Switch is set for another Wii U disaster.

ROFL WAFFLE! That Rumor is BS. In 2 weeks we will know what gamesd will be. Dumb thread with poor timing.

Dumb? How do you know the rumor is BS? Because you want it to he maybe? Based on the last 2 Nintendo systems, this sounds credible, but I will be happy to be wrong.

What a wonderful thread to end/kickoff the year. Is it January 12th yet

You are right. Sorry to be a downer. I will make my next thread positive!

I don't know man.

Are you saying the WiiU failed because it was under-powered relative to the competition? And the Switch will fail because it replicates that power discrepancy?

What about the Wii, DS, and 3DS? All noticeably or significantly under-powered relative to the competition, yet all outperformed that competition.

So surely there are other variables at play. I think the WiiU failed because 1) the price tag was too high, 2) the controller and interface were inaccessible, and 3) it didn't get enough in-demand first-party games.

If Nintendo can fix those problems it should be fine. Here's the thing: a super-powerful console would make all three of those things MORE difficult to fix. Going the way of low-cost and accessibility is the right path forward for Nintendo. Heck, it's the only path forward.

You don't need to be a Nintendo diehard to want the switch. It will have exclusives. I will probably want to play those exclusives. Thus I will need the system.

The thing is, the exclusives may be few and far between like with Wii U.

I kinda agree. The Wii U had great games but still did not move units. There were a ton of factors and anybody in the know will tell you that, but in the eye of the consumer, the Wii U didn't look or performed like a 8th gen console.

Still, I also thought Splatoon would tank but god, was I wrong. Hoping that Nintendo finds success with the Switch but I am skeptical as fuuuuuck.

For one the clue is that he's a former Ubisoft employee so he doesn't know anything about the devkits or the Switch if you read the article itself he's commenting on the rumours so essentially you're believing a rumour that is speculating on another rumour.

Wow, mind blown.

If what the ex Ubisoft worker said is true about how weak the Switch is, that's it. Nintendo will not learn. Another failure is coming out.

The Switch is Nintendo learning the folly of developing for more than one platform.

Sorry to say it guys, but I just don't see any reason to want this unless you are a Nintendo diehard.

Or you want to play games on the go or you want access to a library completely different than what is offered by PS4/X1.

They need to make a powerful next gen console that can handle modern ports and really good looking 3D Mario. Weaker than Xbox One when PS4 Pro is out and Scorpio is coming soon? That's ridiculous!

Either that or price the Switch competitively.

It might work in Japan, but everywhere else, it will bomb after initial release. It sounds like a slightly more powerful Wii U. I will buy no Switch or future Nintendo products.

The Nintendo 3ds is horribly outdated tech and yet it's still selling pretty decently... Maybe people don't buy hardware for the hardware? Maybe they buy hardware for the software?

I was skeptical about Switch too, but once I understood where Nintendo is going with it I think it can quite successful. It`s the perfect console for millennials, for people from their early 20`s to their 30`s that are always on the go and could use some more complete gaming experiences with more versatility. The way I see it I think it`s much more a 3DS successor than an Wii U follow-up.

And 3DS always got third-party support. Actually, Nintendo handelhelds always had great 3rd party, even considering DS was competing with PSP, there were tons of great 3rd party games, and PSP was the only handelheld ever to be a real competition for a Nintendo handelheld.

I think if Nintendo market it well it will do it. I don`t expect another Wii, but if sells like 3DS will be already very good.

No way. That's crazy talk, man!
