If another country exposes corruption, then I honestly don't give a fuck about the semantics about what laws are broken.

"They illegally hacked our servers!"

"... aaaaand exposed extreme corruption in the process. Maybe they need a medal, not a reprimand."

Basically how I feel.

What hurt the democrats was their corruption, the Russians merely exposed it. There would be no response from Obama if right wing corruption was exposed.

Frankly, I'm not even bothered by Russian hacking. Its expected and they found good information.

I second this. I mean I am still not convinced that the Russians were capable of doing it, but damn the results are telling. Why dont we see those being discussed more videly by the msm? Never the less I cannot wait what will happen come January. It will be interesting to see how much backtracking will Trump do, or maybe actually change something.

Wiki needs to stay out of it and stick to investigative reporting. Who are they to say who did the hacking.

They say they know who their source is, and they claim it was Americans, not Russians.

I guess this is what we deserve for all those countries that the CIA fucked around with their elections and installing dictators.

I thought I read/heard that both parties were hacked or phished but only Democrat party emails were released. Democrat emails weren't even that damning besides maybe to Clinton. It basically showed the elites in the Democrats trying their hardest to prop Clinton up and bring down Bernie which we already knew.

What screwed Clinton the most I believe was a week before the elections the FBI director James Comey coming out and saying the investigation was being relaunched due to newly discovered evidence.  That knocked the sails out of the Clinton campaign and it didn't matter that a couple days before the election they came out and stated that nothing substantial was found.  It was over.  That and her inability to court burned Bernie supporters which stayed home or voted for Trump... and then you have the electoral college process which will be flawed until it is proportionally divided among the votes which would end the states throwing out the votes of the losing candidates.

True or not that Russians were it, we don't have to fear anything since Trump is happy about it and won't really fuck with Russia. Pretty much the opposite will happen. It's not coincidence that all the guys he appoints to important positions have friends in Russia (sometimes even Putin) and that he complains about pretty much the whole world except about Russia.

It's as if he would be an American born in Russia who feels half Russian half American

Trump wouldn't be president-elect without the leaked docs and he wouldn't be president if there would be the same amount of leaked docs from the GOP since there will be obviously also a lot of crazy shit we would hear from (like it will be with pretty much every party around the world).

Trump loves what happened, he won't do anything against those who are the reason that he will be the next president nor will other Republicans do much against it to let us have to fear a war against Russia if Russia really was involved in it.

This won't lead to war, they did it. Putin won. He got the guy he wanted elected. Now, we're in for at least four years of Putin stomping all over eastern Europe and the Middle East without any push back from the US.

And you can bet your ass that come 2020 they'll be fighting to win him a second term. But hey, at least the Democrats didn't win amiright?

No different than before.  Before we had America walking all over the middle east with Britain and no push back from anyone.  Just because it's Russia now doesn't mean it's any better or worse.

At least the Russians have the backing of the Syrian government.

Let Russia and US start a new cold war so.that Western Europe can rise again while the superpowers spend way to much money in nukes and greatness madness.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

There's this book which is required reading apparently by Russian military and political higher ups that gives a great deal of insight on things:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics

The book written in 1997 outlines some interesting Russia objectives namely:

1.) The United Kingdom should be cut off from Europe. (Brexit - Check)

2.) Ukraine should be annexed by Russia because "“Ukraine as a state has no geopolitical meaning, no particular cultural import or universal significance, no geographic uniqueness, no ethnic exclusiveness, its certain territorial ambitions represents an enormous danger for all of Eurasia (Annexation of Crimea in Ukraine, Step One)

3.) Russia should use its special forces within the borders of the United States to fuel instability and separatism, for instance, provoke "Afro-American racists". Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics."[1]

(Supporting a divisive candidate like Trump that played up racial and isolationist rhetoric -- check mate).

Seems like they eased off on the concept of making China an enemy, rather placating them/making them an ally of sorts, but a lot of the other stuff written in 1997 is almost freakishly dead on.

These three points are actually stunning in their accuracy nearly 20 years before hand. There's also the Russian professor/former KGB agent who predicted due to internal instability, the United States would eventually break apart into this:

Russia might be playing a pretty impressive long game here, the ultimate revenge for the break up of the Soviet Union. We tend to think this was ages ago, but it was really only 25 years ago ... not that long in geopolitical terms.

So, did they succeed in provoking black racists?

I thought I read/heard that both parties were hacked or phished but only Democrat party emails were released. Democrat emails weren't even that damning besides maybe to Clinton. It basically showed the elites in the Democrats trying their hardest to prop Clinton up and bring down Bernie which we already knew.

What screwed Clinton the most I believe was the weekbefore the elections the FBI director James Comey coming out and saying the investigation was being relaunched due to newly discovered evidence.  That knocked the sails out of the Clinton campaign and it didn't matter that a couple days before the election they came out and stated that nothing substantial was found.  It was over.  That her unability to court burned Bernie supporters which stayed home or voted for Trump... and then you have the electoral college process which will be flawed until it is proportionally divided among the votes which would end the states throwing out the votes of the losing candidates.

Even to Clinton, they weren't really damning. Some guys in the DNC preferred her to Sanders. Some discussed potential Sanders weaknesses. Others said some mean things because Sanders was attacking the DNC. None of it was acted upon. Clinton won fairly, by millions of votes, regardless of that crap, which was mostly dated in May after Sanders lost most of the major races and was pretty far behind.

In the Podesta emails, the most damning stuff was related to Donna Brazille, and that was kind of it. Very little evidence of genuine foul play or corruption beyond her, and all she did was send out some debate questions. Crappy and unethical, but that's not why Clinton won the primary, the Clinton campaign didn't ask for them, and we've no evidence Clinton ever saw them. Going by some of the stuff I read in this thread, I am getting the impression that many read about the emails on right wing sites, rather than the actual emails.

And yeah, Comey's letter is exactly what did it. 538's Nate Silver makes a pretty good case for it: http://www.mediaite.com/online/nate-silver-clinton-wouldve-almost-certainly-become-president-if-not-for-comeys-letter/ Frankly, I don't think most voters were even that aware of the contents of the Russian leaks. The media wasn't really covering them in the same breathless manner as other Clinton and Trump related scandals. Still, we should all be freaked out by what our intelligence agencies have found, regardless of political affiliation.

And let's also keep in mind how one sided these hacks were: we never got emails from the Sanders campaign, the Trump campaign, or the RNC. These hacks and releases were targeted against a single candidate. That everyone here isn't disturbed that our election was influenced by a malicious foreign power is...well, disappointing. But hey, at least your side won, right? Guess Russia ain't so bad now.

But it seems even foreign interference in our elections is a partisan thing now, and I've no interest in explaining why Russia trying to manipulate our elections is a bad thing for us, since it shouldn't even be up for discussion. So I think I will quit this thread now.
