Everyone loves to talk about how mods are great.  I have never used mods.  The most I ever did was play user made scenarios in Civ3.  Can mods make games better?  I'm sure but I really don't see the big fuss about mods.  I've never been like you know what... A mod could totally make this game better.  Probably because I never gave a shit about mods to begin with.

There are many pokemon fan games that dont get caught cause they advertise it in secret on their fan creation forums. These creators need to stop coming out publicly and announcing their project.

Didn't they just sell over 5 million copies with Sun/Moon? They have nothing to protect lol

No no i didn't say supporting,most of them like you said can't do anything about it,but Rockstar as rockstar doesn't support modding,like they don't give engine or creation kit as much as i'm aware of to the players to mod,i never said the game isn't being modded but Rockstar is anti modding that's all.

Makes me wonder if my upcoming game Pikimon will be closed down by Nintendo. It features colourful characters that battle each other using a points based system.

Tbh i'm with you on that instead wasting 8-9 years like they did with with this game they could have created something amazing like those dudes with owlboy,hell even a game like undertale if they were going for pokemon style route.

You also seem out of touch, Nintendo doesn't remove the content, it removes the monotization of the content, that is their current policy in that regard. Also this is protecting their trademark and a lot more developers do this.  People don't really seem to understand how trademark protection works, because it is simple you don't protect it, you lose it. You lose it, anyone can make anything based on that trademark. 

Could nintendo have better approach to fan made project, possibly, but honestly when it comes to Pokemon, they are dime a dozen. I rather they protect the IP than working with fan made developers. Now things like Metroid project, I wish they worked with the developer, since Nintendo has no interest. 

One thing it is to be inspired by Pokemon, another thing is to use Pokemon in the title of your game or possible assets of Pokemon Franchise.  

Also a lot of people bringing up modding in regards to fan made content, Nintendo exists in a closed console space, not really open PC space.

What's the big deal? Of course Nintendo is going to shut it down. Any sane company would. If I open a restaurant and called it "McDonald's" and started giving away burgers there for free, I reckon I'll be getting a call from McDonald's pretty soon. And whoever would suggest that I'm "helping" McDonald's by growing the fanbase is a fool, I'm sorry. No, what I'm doing is hurting McDonald's because why would people continue to pay money to eat at McDonald's when they can get the same taste from my shop for free?

I don't really get why people continue to share info on their fan games puplicly. Some fan games have a tendency to be shut down by the IP owners, depending on what it is. I recall a few Chrono Trigger games suffered the same fate some time back, so it's probably not going to change suddenly. Fan creators really outta keep their fan games a secret, and do so with their releases.

It sucks that it happens, and I wish it wouldn't, but it happens, and not everyone is cool with making fan games of their games.
