Forums - Microsoft - Scorpio to be $399???

If they want to remain competitive in the US that is the highest they can go. Anything above that and the Scorpio will tank, simple as that. But MS will probably take the 400$ route and loose some money on it for the first couple of months.

at 399 it would have a pretty solid footing in my opinion.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

$399 sounds cheap considering the Pro is breaking even at $399 with old components. If MS has upped the RAM and has a new GPU with a UHD with a minimum 1TB HDD, I think $449 will be the cheapest with MS taking a loss of sorts. I still think they'll go for a $499 price and bundle in digital versions of Halo, Forza and our Gears.

Unless there is any hard evidence in this, I think this thread should be locked. Like the rumors of Xbone sales this month. It's all speculation. 😒

People buying Scorpio are buying it because of power. Same with Pro. It doesn't matter if Pro is cheaper. It's weaker. People will pay a premium for it.

If people are paying for power and are willing to pay a premium, wouldn't they buy a gaming PC?

$400 it will sell, any higher and it will probably only be the hardcore Xbox fans buying it.

Gaming PCs aren't a console.

That's my point, a console's success is dependent on a good price. People that care about power and have the money will get a gaming PC.

But I think for MS the success of Scorpio will depend on their strategy. Scorpio will be stepping away from Xbox One and towards Windows Xbox.

I think that one of two things will happen regarding Scorpio. The first is that Microsoft will scale back a bit on the hardware in order to make a console that they can sell at an attractive price point and also work for the XBox division financially. The second is that they go all in and create a console that hands down the most powerful on the market and they price it as such ($499 or more).

Personally, I don't understand why Microsoft is even creating Scorpio.

Just a hunch, but I think they're doing it to make money.

Hope so.
