I too was a Sega fanboy, but once the tears and swearing off gaming, which lasted for 2 years, I saw the light. Nintendo was the enemy, Mario was for nerds and Pokémon was for babies. The 2 of us in the Sega fanclub at school lived by it.

Look at me now, all I do is play Pokémon Go. 🙄

Fanboy wars unfortunately make people go cray cray as my daughter would say in jest.

The funny thing for me is that last gen I purchased a wii first out of the three consoles, and thought it was going to be the second coming, then realised the games were shovel ware and those that werent were not my cup of tea. I actually took a long time to get a PS3, and have been on the sony side since. MS output last gen was much better in the early years (or thats how it seemed), I wasnt really attracted to either console, but now I am a massive sony fan (not fanboy ;) because they killed it last gen and are killing it again this gen, their games are just great.

If that's the case, no one should be complaining. Ever. Like BMaker, I too remember what kind of activity went on last gen, only to watch a complete about-face from many, many people. Yes, it's the nature of being human and the "Sports Fan" mentality - but then as I stated, no one should be complaining, since you acknowledge that you are part of the problem.

On the modding side of things, hopefully people will chill out.

I know. And I openly admit it (even though my mod history says otherwise!) 😏. The bigger problem, in my opinion, are those who won't admit it to themselves. 

You're a smart guy, CGI. You'll handle things...
