Forums - Nintendo - About 3rd party games on Switch

So now that the Switch specs seem to be leaked, I see one catch phrase everywhere: 3rd parties won't bother porting their games to the Switch! Oh noes!

Yeah, but who cares? Nobody buys a Nintendo console for the 3rd party games. As you all may remember too well, the Wii U had a solid 3rd party line up at launch. What happened is that nobody gave a shit about those games. If you want 3rd party games, buy a different console because there are other places where they can shine, but not here, buddy.

3rd parties would be better off by releasing specific titles that fit the audience and the hardware that Nintendo provides. This strategy is something that Capcom has already stated to be following. Y'all may laugh about Capcom how much you want, but they are right. That's the way to success for 3rd partys.

Why do you generalize, though? My favourite games on Nintendo consoles tend to be third-party games, so it sucks that there's a premise of third-party games not bothering releasing on their consoles. "Specific games that fit the audience", what audience would that be? Are you implying Nintendo's consumers are all the same?

I think it will still have Japanese third parties.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Its really funny because its thé same every time :

" Oh finally thé return of 3rd party I cant wait, 3rd party + Nintendo games = best console ever "

Then

" I dont care if its only Nintendo games, who buys a Nintendo console for 3rd party games ?  "

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

I do like some support for third party on Nintendo, but it won't be the end all if it doesn't have it.

Before all this Switch does not have 3rd party, lets first wait Switch January event.

Which games do you like the most?

If we look at sales, we can safely say that games like Deus Ex: HR, NfS, Darksiders II, Batman, Call of Duty, Mass Effect, are what this audience doesn't want to buy. But let's look at Lego City Undercover. It doesn't try to be as "mature" as possible, but is humorous and bright -> it did quite good.

But you are riight, Wright. I'm sorry if I generalized too much, since there's also ZombiU which did also quite okay. There are examples on both sides.

3rd party is important. It would def make the handheld much more valuable to me to be able to play Mass Effect or Fallout on it.

No one loves waiting 4-5 years for a new Zelda, a decade for a Metroid title etc...

All these Mario 2D/3D games...starting that feel of you've played one-or seven, you'ven played them all.

I get it now with these nerfed X1 specs, this is more like a successor to the 3DS/DS than to the Wii U.

On top of my memory, not necessarily the best ones, I've liked Killer7, Eternal Darkness, The Last Story, No More Heroes, ZombiU and Rayman Legends over most Nintendo games in their respective consoles, Gamecube, Wii and WiiU. They're diverse and not necessarily aimed to the same audience in each case.

I hate to say it, but sales say that you are a minority. I don't mean that in an offensive way since I also like most of these games a lot (safe for the Last Story since I haven't touched it yet).
