Forums - Politics - Trump: 'Nobody Really Knows' If Climate Change Is Real

The NASA even made a snazzy youtube video how man-made CO2 emissions caused a massive greening of the earth.

Should NASA be defunded bc of this?

It is either made by the Russians or Chinese. Obviously the most likely scenarios

"Nah, Russia is great.

They are the best.  They are the smartest and sweetest people.  Absolutely the biggest and the best country in the world."

You got that right.

It's funny how people believe that they understand things better than the actual scientists. People have spent almost their entire lives studying these things, but I guess your common sense beats that.

I also love the argument that scientists have been wrong before.

It's like going to the doctor for a check-up and he tells you you have cancer. And then you go "doctors have been wrong before. I'll ignore what you just said. We don't know for sure". Then you go to 8 other doctors and they all say the same. The 10th says you're fine. So, you take your chances and decide to do nothing about it.

Same with your car. Mechanics have been wrong before, so why trust them?

Well, guess what? They are specialists and as such, they're much more likely to be right than you and your limited understanding of the topic.

The funny thing here is you can't even begin to make a comparison between climate science towards medical science or mechanics ...

The former has so little understanding even among the experts that even they don't have an idea if most of the established models or not are consistent whereas the latters have being understood for centuries and tested too to boot ...

Most of the time you can't even begin to use the scientific method for climate science ...

Your so called "experts" aren't even "experts" if they haven't even cracked the puzzle yet compared to tried and time tested professions like medical science ...

He's probably lying, or his father is actually one of those Christian (or maybe some other religion, I don't know) scientists who put their religion before their own work, cherry picking data and believing they know better than even their own peers.

I don't get how someone who thinks this earth was gods gift to mankind and then thinks it's okay to just proceed and screw it up.

To be perfectly honest, I don't see why a religion should prove or disprove climate change at all, but maybe there's a Job22 or whatever that says "God has granted thee freedom from the laws of physics that would be negative to your economy"

Global warming is simple physics. We know we are releasing more CO2 into the sky above us. We know molecules reflect radiation. We know this radiation creates heat. We know the increased heat makes the icecaps melt. We know the icecaps reflects rays away from earth better than water, meaning even more heat is absorbed. The heating will also thaw the tundras of the world, where vast amounts of methane are stored. Methane has the same effect as CO2. Heck, water vapor is a lot more potent than CO2, meaning water vapor is even worse for the climate. And when we make everything hotter, more water will evaporate from the oceans.

There are so many interconnected ways that all lead to more and more heat. I can't see how your father can tell you anything else with a straight face. Maybe to stop you from worrying, since we probably have fucked our selves too much all ready...

He's probably lying, or his father is actually one of those Christian (or maybe some other religion, I don't know) scientists who put their religion before their own work, cherry picking data and believing they know better than even their own peers.

Nice projection, pal. My father is japanese. His works were based on publications on the highest awarded venues, and were simply voided one day, because the fraudulent author tried to sell out a fossil collection from a MUSEUM and got caught by the police which forced the community to expose the (huge) fraud. Most publications did not even report it, some wrote a small note. Scientists don't double check if the writer looks reputable or if it fits their agenda. "Not really knowing" is the right way to look at things like this.

What point are you trying to make?

The term Climate Change makes it undisputable that it happens, the climate is always changing it's not stagnant. Now, if people were still sticking to the term global warming like it was called before then I could see that being challenged.

Don't see how that's projection.  Do you even know what it means?  There's zero reason for me to believe you.

...if that's what your father told you then yeah, I get why he might think climate change isn't a real problem. Even first grade students (university level) have to ensure they are using correct sources.

Other than that I don't see how this has any relevance.
