Forums - Sales - 360 to hit 2m in UK next week (Chart-Track)

Come on I mean the numbers are really close out of 2m just being around 150k off thats pritty good I mean thumbs up. Would there be such a stink if we found out the ps3 was overtracked somewhere by a smal amount? probably not. Everyone has to remember that no one is ever going to get the numbers spot on and what does it matter if there are small(and these are small) diff in the numbers. I mean not long ago ms said that they had a install base of 17.7m(not sold but install base) and no one said anything about changing the numbers cause heck the numbers were pritty close(thumbs up again). My point is the size of the numbers that are dealt with here small diff are going to happen so unless we are talking about huge diff I really dont think we should get all bent out of shape.

Same goes for GT5P. It did ~120k in the UK this week so why people are thinking 700k for Europe is a little crazy, especially when UK always sees larger week 1 sales and faster dropoffs.

So you think the UK accounts for about 1/3 of GT Prologue European sales? According to Sony's their PS3 business during christmas for the UK was closer to l1/5 of total European sales.

You could be right, so take this just as an observation. Maybe Sony will releases some sales figures for their next financial report, so we can compare.

*cough*

yeah MIKE

Ouch, with regard to the second part of that post I don't share your perspectives. Personally I think there's room and a need for improvement and IMO blind cheerleading for provided figures or assume them to be factual (as some do) wouldn't be constructive.

Reading comprehension isn't that difficult. Let me break this down for you, Mike:

ioi admits that VGChartz figures differ from Chart-Track.  He's asking you not to come out and say, "hey guys, your figures differ from Chart Track!  Did u know?  Lol!"

Of course they know.  You obviously have no idea how much work goes into getting these figures. Further, Chart Track isn't perfectly accurate either.  If you look at more numbers -- such as shipments, Chart-Track, and VGChartz own internal data, you're likely to increase the accuracy of the equation.

The point of VGChartz doesn't seem to be compiling numbers from the sources, as it originally was. The point of VGChartz is now to collect their own data in addition to the compilation.  Having another source of collected data, even if it is most likely less accurate than existing sources, is still valuable.  That's the whole point.

What's it like to spend so much time on online forums pretending you know how everything works?

@ TheBigFatJ

Reread my first comment above, I was just summarizing. Shouldn't this be allowed?

What makes you say that? I have been criticized for asking too many difficult questions in the past in efforts to better understand how VGChartz operates. So I don't claim I know this at all, the more info on this the better.

Incidentally, I have original Xbox ~2.25m according to Chart-Track, so we should see 360 overtake that sometime this summer. How quick will depend on how well GTA4 does for 360 HW sales.

It's just the known usual suspects lobbying for their pet console to get the better treatment.
