Forums - Sales Discussion - November 2016 NPD Thread! Hardware estimates in the OP!

People will get hurt no matter who wins.

Pretty depressing, if you take as a general statement...

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

So glad ps4 won.

Whats being said is just the possible reasoning behind PS not showing their numbers. There are legit reasons why they might not want to show them like how PS knows they've won this gen so they dont care, but its just as possible that PS is "losing ground" and wants to keep that hush hush. No business in their right mind goes out and tells people we're losing and hopes to keep the momentum going, especially with the launch of an updated product to the line up.

This is why after years of PS boasting about their sales, it seems odd why they all of the sudden changed their tone.

I think you have lost travk of where this started . So let me point oit exactky what i responded to.

See the bolded part? I divided into two parts for you.

The first part. The "you think/might/maybe" part I have no issue with. That's just an opinion and you are entitled to have it.

The second part, is what I have an issue with. Cause that is not an opinion anymore. you are making a statement. and that statement is false.

It's false because since this gen started, Sony has not once announced their NPD numbers. They have not boasted about their sales. Meaning they have not changed any tone. If anything, them releasing NPD numbers (which would be great) would be them actually doing something different from what they have done these past three years.

I have made it clear that I would like them to release numbers. That's not in debate here. You have given your opinion on why you think they don't, which I don't agree with but that's not in debate either.

but you ended all that with a statement that suggests they are being dubious by not releasing their numbers. and cited them always boasting about them in the past so why stop now. And that statement is false.

Here's a few examples of articles covering PS's boasting over the years. While not to the same level as MS when they are ahead, it still happened.

First off, the "changing their tone" line wasn't separate like that when I wrote it. You separated it and changed it, which changes how my post read, so already your twisting it. You also left some of that post out.

Secondly, I wasn't talking about any specific numbers, I was speaking about sales, and things like the comments given by PS when they win. When you look back to everything PS was saying back then, their tone has changed. They went from bragging a lot, to saying very little, if nothing at all.

That wasn't my original post either. My original said it could mean PS doesn't care because they are winning handily right now, or maybe things didn't go as well as they would have liked. I clearly thought it could be either or.

They gave lots of updates at the start to show people they were selling well. They don't need to give such regular updates now everyone knows they are so far ahead.

It's bizarre that you are judging Sony on how often they update us on their numbers, instead of how much they actually sell each year.

Oh my God are you kidding me? I changed it?

you said two things in one paragraph. I seperated them to make it clear which of the two i and an issue with because I thought it was a lie. Part of the paragraph was an opinion. The other part was a statement.

and all those example you showed? That's nowhere near the same thing as outright giving numbers for NPD. That's just PR talk which they all do one way or another. And the numbers given are as I have pointed out multiple times worldwide numbers. Again. not and never NPD numbers in the 8th gen.

And for the last time, I even pointed out which of your posts and what exactly in it you said that prompted a reply from me. I don't know how plainly or simply I can put any of this anymore.

Ive honwstly given up with him. The ridivulous thing is that he's using their lack of "npd" numners to suggest that Sony is somehow hiding something. And claimed that Sony spent years boasting about numbers.

I have tried at least 4 times to tell him that sony has not once released NPD numbers this gen and that they only release shipment numbers which come quarterly and sold through global numbers when they hit whatever milestone they are aiming for. Hell, 2/3 days ago they just announced the 50M milestone.

Like I have no idea what he's trying to say now. and whats crazy is that i said all that to him in the first reply to him I made.

Theres a rumor going around saying PS4 won by 100k. If true its close to the 150k lead i was saying.

"They gave lots of updates at the start to show people they were selling well. They don't need to give such regular updates now everyone knows they are so far ahead."

LOL.  It's totally ok for people to follow the rules or do what they say they are going to do when they need help or business or whatever, but when they don't need help or sales, they can do whatever they want. Why not?  LOL. Its bizzare you think this is ok or normal.

Questioning changes to things, is completely normal. Not questioning things leads to being taken advantage of.

Lastly, no, I am not saying PS is taking advantage of anyone, I am just saying don't believe everything your told, which you seem to understand quite well from what I can see, which is a good thing.

The use of Crapgamers crap as biblical by so many on this site is the saddest thing I have ever seen. Please, please, please, please, please, please, please for your own sanity all stop doing it.

What you showed me was my post, using general terminology. Where I specifically said NPD I'm not sure, because I dont remember pointing to that exactly.

You however seem to think everytime I say anything like "sales" that it means NPD numbers. Why you think this I don't know, but I don't see how its not obvious that's not what I was talking about. If you haven't come to that conclusion, then you just don't get it, or your trolling, either way, it doesn't change what I meant.
