It seems that there is a general consensus on the faults and strengths of the game.

It's just that there wasn't a consensus on how to weight the strengths against the faults. Hence, the divergent review scores.

Yes, The Last Guardian’s controls are incredibly archaic and at times can be entirely broken, but two days after finishing it, the story has stuck with me. Studio Japan has continued to show how it can do so much while saying so little. The environment, characters and everything about the narrative captivated me. In spite of the controls I still thoroughly enjoyed the game overall. The story is a simple one, but powerful nonetheless.

I'm glad it is scoring better than I expected.

More perfect scores than FFXV, very nice. Looking forward to finally playing this.

Welcome to the thread, I'm sure you could say the same about most Xbox/Nintendo games too.

But sure, complain that out of 20 scores above 9/10, 3 of them are PlayStation affiliated sites.
