Actually, we're talking about games. Now tell me, how has Sony's focus on games benefitted the PS Vita?

But in super seriousness, if a new IP doesn't sell at least 10m, should it be even called a game?
PSX was everything it could've been and then some. Sony showed us that they're not letting their lead get to their heads; they're more devoted to PlayStation than ever before.

The generation will have to last another 8 years or so for PS4 to get to 150MM. That does seem possible with mid-gen revisions, but it also makes the gen-to-gen comparisons less realistic.

Agree with most of what you said.
I especially agree about your thoughts on mindshare. If i was Sony I would have included the UHD blue ray drive regardless of cost, simply to compete with Xbox. The aim should be to never give a consumer a reason to go with the competition. Thats what they got right in the beginning of the gen, but not as of right now. Consumers have a reason to buy the Xbox Slim and are also going to have a reason to buy the Scorpio.

You're putting words in my mouth I never said.
I said Sony would also keep making sequels to franchises that can sell 10 million units with each new installments. Nintendo happens to have quite a few of them (especially now that their handheld and home console divisions will merge): Pokémon, Animal Crossing, 2D Mario, Mario Kart, 3D Mario, Super Smash Bros., etc.

In order to say that this is a bad decision, you have to compare the number of people who would choose an xb1 over a ps4 solely because of a UHD blue ray drive with the number of people who care more about a sub $400 price. Clearly Sony tried their best to make it as inexpensive as possible and thus an affordable option.
There will always be a reason for consumers to choose another console (i.e. Scorpio). That doesn't mean that Sony should make a super expensive version (e.g. with more ram) that only a few people will buy.

Have you looked at sales recently? Because none of the games you listed do that either.
The only one that might qualify for 10 millions with each installment might be pokemon. However going by the arguments in this thread thats not made by nintendo so......

New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS all sold over 10 million copies. Nintendo is the sole owner of the Pokémon trademark, it's their franchise.

VGC says different but if you can give me a more credible source, consider me corrected.
Pokemon is as much a Nintendo game as Until dawn, bloodborne, death stranding, etc. are Sony games.
