Xbox had the best lineup since launch of XOne and ps4 so were is the problem?

Around the Network

Yeah definitely a valid rant. I remember the start of the 360 gen the xbox brand really caught my attention. Halo 3, gears of war, Bioshock, mass effect, PGR to name a few. I had no opinion on the brand before that era but those years I very nearly "jumped in". Only reason I didn't was because my ps3/pc combo was enough and I was too young to be spending more money on another console.

These days I feel zero motivation to go near the brand. Good post OP.

Xbox One has dominated the racing genre for 4 years now. Other than that, they have fallen back on all other areas.

Dominating how?

Forza is actually losing steam, Project Cars were more antecipated and MK and GT have sold more than Forza. So in which manner does Forza dominated the genre besides on perhaps yours preference?

Exactly, they flood the market year after year with Forza games and they don't sell that great. The series has been milked and over saturated for quite some time now. Regardless of a few k copies selling in the UK during the Christmas period. Any run of the mill Need for Speed  game can outsell it in any year they release. Critically, they're great, outstanding! But the audience isn't there anymore.

What I said: "Xbox One has dominated the racing genre for 4 years now."  That means it offering the best in both exclusives and multiplats. BOTH.

What I didn't said: "Forza  alone is dominating",

So your rethoric is irrelevant. XBOne been dominating for years and it would be dominating even if it only sells one copy. Thats what happens when there's no competition from console exclusives against it's main competitor the PS4 while still offering the most relevants multiplats.

About MK? Ninty auto-destroys everything so is unfair to try to hold Microsoft or Sony to their standars.

How is it a good post? Genuine question, because to me it seems OP wants to be forced to buy a console. Alan Wake to be Xbox exclusive? Why would somebody want MS to do such a dick move to all the AW fans on PC?

Rest of the post is just an opinion. MS has a strong lineup of games, if none of them are appealing to you then don't buy Xbox. Millions of people love Halo, Forza and Gears though, myself included. I've never seen a Nintendo game that would make me consider buying their console, ever. Playstation has couple of interesting games but that's it. It's just personal preference.

The Forza series has been the rock for Microsoft, but everything else is pretty shaky. Halo 5 and Gears 4 weren't bad games, but they underperformed compared to their predecessors. I thought Gears 4 would fare better than Halo 5 because the Gears franchise didn't suffer from an MCC-esque multiplayer fiasco. However, initial sales from the UK and US revealed that the franchise is on a significant decline. Other games Microsoft published didn't do too well either. NPD results showed that Quantum Break and ReCore sold rather low numbers. It is rather serious for the former because Microsoft showcased QB since E3 2013 and with the live-action scenes, the budget must've been huge. Project Spark got shut down and Fable Legends was cancelled along with the closure of Lionhead Studios. Same thing happened to Project Knoxville and Press Play Studios. The Phantom Dust remake also got cancelled, though Microsoft is partially rectifying that with a remaster.

It's not all that bad as 2017 looks more promising. Sea of Thieves looks pretty good and so does Halo Wars 2. Like the OP, I'm not really impressed with Scalebound and on top of that, the Xbox One userbase is generally indifferent towards JRPGs. Frankly, I think it needs a Steam release like Quantum Break in order to sell reasonably well. Cuphead looks really nice, though I can get that on Steam when it comes out.

Well to dominate but them exclude Nintendo is very bizarre...

And considering GT6 is still playable I don't know why exclude it just so to give a victory according to wish

Oh what a pleasant surprise! Its been a while ludicrous. As for all of your text, I was referring to Sony's first party attenpts. Sony likes to amass new IP's and if they would've succeeded with Sunset Overdrive Microsoft would never have had it. Microsoft throws their money at third parties because they cannot develop new IP's on heir own that are hits. Its just not their thing. Hopefully they dont pay for timed exclusivity of another Tomb Raider because of it.  MS has admitted, themselves, that they wish they could've made an exclusive like Uncharted but nothing ever worked out. Why? Because their internal teams were never great at new IP's.  When MS had their drought before the end of last gen it was noted in numerous articles about how they've struggled while Sony has onliy gotten stronger (which helped them close their sales  gap with Microsoft). This is why Phil Spencer is so focused on trying amass IP's. If they cannot make new IP's themselves they will get developers to make as many new IP's as possible to try and pose a threat. So far, Ryse is a bust and Titanfall was never exclusive to begin with. Lets all hope Sunset Overdrive turned a profit for Insomniacs sake because im sure the second game being  multiplat would definitely help.

Uh, yeah, I was also talking about Sony's first party efforts. Or, rather, the lack thereof. Not that I am complaining, but if you take issue with Microsoft's output in terms of how many new IP's they have created internally versus paid someone to make, then you can't be impressed with Sony either. Yet you constantly talk as if Sony is in an entirely different league and have no need to stoop as low as buying IP's or paying someone to make their games. Your reach is so bad you even criticize MS for hiring people who used to work at Sony in some capacity... as if hiring experienced game developers is a bad thing lol.

Here, lets just list them. So far Sony has given us:

Knack, created internally
Driveclub, created internally, but from a studio they bought, so according to your logic, doesn't count. Studio now dead, btw
Until Dawn, paid outside developer to make it
The Order, paid outside developer to make it
Bloodborne, paid outside developer to make it
Hardware Rivals, created internally
Alienation, paid outside developer to make it
Resogun, paid outside developer to make it
Bound, paid outside developer to make it.

Am I missing any? Feel free to point any out. So three years into the generation and we have 9 new IP's released, only two of which fit the criteria as releases that you wouldn't shit on Microsoft for. And those two games are Knack, a meh launch title, and Hardware Rivals, a PS+ game that in all honesty was pretty terrible. Lets compare to Microsoft.

Ryse, paid outside developer to make it
Kalimba, developed internally, but from a studio they bought so it's bad
LocoCycle, developed internally, but from a studio they bought so it's bad
Ori and the Blind Forest, paid outside developer to make it
Sunset Overdrive, paid outside developer to make it
Project Spark, developed internally. Game is now dead
Quantum Break, paid outside developer to make it
ReCore, paid outside developer to make it
Screamride, paid outside developer to make it

We also have 9 new IP's here released thus far. Sony developed two internally which fit your critera, Microsoft only one. And none of those three combined games are really worth a shit, especially Spark and Hardware Rivals. So where is this grand difference you're seeing? Why hasn't it manifested itself in reality this gen? Are you harping back to PSone and PS2 era Sony for this theory? Because that is old Sony, not new Sony. New Sony charges you for online play, and gets a crap ton of its games from outside companies in exchange for cash. Which there is nothing wrong with either of those, but you can't poop on one while claiming the other is a whole lot better. And please, don't try to backpedal and change this into talk about their entire first party offering, your post was about new IP's, and how often both companies pay outside developers to make their games for them. These lists prove that at the end of the day there really is no difference. I hope that helps.

Funny that you mention Sunset Overdrive, too. That was a game that only went to Microsoft because Sony wanted to keep the IP, which flies directly in the face of what you're trying to argue. Your Tomb Raider reference was good for a giggle as well considering Sony has moneyhatted that franchise long before Microsoft ever did.

And why wouldn't the head of a gaming division want a title like Uncharted? Do you think Nintendo doesn't want an Uncharted? Do you think Sony doesn't want its own FPS franchise as revered as Halo? Do you think Sony wouldn't love something like Pokemon on their Vita with all those sales? What a silly point to try and make. Next you'll tell me the Browns organization would love to have a franchise QB like Tom Brady. How terrible of them. LOL

Not sure what MS could've done more. They've really stepped up their game over the last year.

The thread name here, made my think of this video:

Exactly. I have no idea what's even coming out for the One next year. Scalebound, I guess? Which looks like a lot of fun, but that main character is worse than Dante :P

I'm just not seeing any "must own" games for Xbox One period.
