Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is looking interesting again for the first time in almost a decade..

Except the 3DS made them look really good, and barely continue to do so..... As it is selling very well and is keeping them in the hardware game.... I think switch is a huge risk, I could compare it to Vita in terms of risk.... Since it's going to compete with the tablet market..... And is likely(based on leaked info) going to equate to an underpowered Xbox one which will not appeal to core gamers.....it's only selling point, from what has been shown, is that it's promising a portable HD console experience....

They shot themselves throwing away the Wii concept... Clearly it sold well.... Sure the move and Kinect ate into that market.... But they should have gone for a nexgen Wii experience.... That could also be done on the go.... But oh well

I'm usually the most interested in Nintendo, as Microsoft's games do nothing for me and SONY hasn't said anything about Crash Team Racing, Siren, or Twisted Metal getting any second chances.

I care about Smash, Mario Kart, F-Zero, Xenoblade, Pokemon. And usually some of the funniest games to play are made by Nintendo as well.

I really don't care much about hardware unless there's different versions/models such as a slim version. I care about the games and the Japanese third parties have that covered for SONY'S Westernized ass. But Nintendo also has Custom Robo, Golden Sun, Geist, Mario Party, and other franchises that I'd love to see return or get back to form.

They'll always be interesting to me.

I got interested in video games again (after an absence of nearly 10 years) when I first tried the Wii, because it was something new and exciting. I really loved Wii, and only recently got a Wii U - but thanks to Nintendo I'm back into gaming! So my situation is quite different from the OP

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Opinions! Though that one is held by only a small minority for good reason.

That opinion is hold by most people that played it, something you didn't.

Uh okay sure, what's your point? No wait lemme guess, because I haven't played the game myself I can't possibly know whether it's good or not right? Haven't we gone over this already, or maybe that was someone else. Regardless, unless content, mechanics, genre, etc. magically change from everything I've researched about when I put the game disc in, then that logic is false.

I will grant that playing a game can help you understand the aforementioned better if you didn't already, but that's the thing, I already do. I think I'm decently versed in RPGs, and more relevantly, Paper Mario, having played every prior installment including Sticker Star which Color Splash is fundamentally a sequel to. The latter part is generally why it's so easy to immediately tell the quality of Nintendo games, because there's almost always a precedent. For example, just as with Color Splash I knew 3D World would be amazing the second I saw the first trailer because 3D Land already exist.

So, nope! Having played the game doesn't give your opinion more weight, it just means it's more likely that you know what you're talking about in your arguments (the thing that actually gives your opinion weight) since you should have a good understanding of it with the hands on experience. l'm certainly not going to buy a bad game I know I won't like just to have more credibility in arguments against those using false logic. No thanks!

Yeah, for some reason the game continues to get unnecessary hate. It really is quite a joy to play.

"for some reason?" Ha, you ain't fooling nobody, you well know what the reason is! The hate is necessary so Nintendo knows not to make the same mistake yet again. May or may not work, see Mario Party, but gotta atleast try!

Hate? What hate? I don't really understand why people are hating this game, when it is actually quite a fun and excellently made game. The only mistakes I'm seeing is people writing this game off because it's not like TTYD, and seems like SS.

You're asking me what hate as if there isn't any, then go on to say you don't understand why people are hating, which means you acknowledge that there is indeed hate. lol whut?

Not buying a game that's not like a good game and more like a bad game is a mistake? Naw, the only mistake would be to buy a game despite knowing it wouldn't be enjoyable. Yeah they got us to buy Sticker Star, but you know the old saying, fool me once...

That's mostly because I don't see that much hate spread around the game, except the usual 'it's like Sticker Star' arguement and nothing actually from the game. The only hate I am seeing is largely from you, and you still haven't played the game, yet continue to claim it is bad and should do poorly on purely baseless opinions. As for people who have, It's been quite the opposite. Reception on the game has been more so positive from those who have played it, including myself.

And also, this isn't a simple matter as to judge an entire game simply on some screenshots or gameplay footage. You can't be fooled on a game you haven't played, or don't know anything else about it.

For most of what you said just read my response to Goodnightmoon. Tl;dr, playing a game gives you no additional credibility, I certainly know how Color Splash plays just as much as you do, and of course most people who bought the game like it, cause who buys a game they know they won't like? That's kinda why the sales are so low. If every Paper Mario fan did buy the game then you can bet the vast majority of Color Splash owners would dislike it.

"Nothing actually from the game? Baseless opinions?" Where do you think the idea that it's essentially Sticker Star 2 even came from then? Do you honestly believe I know nothing about the game, that I'm not buying it because... I'm stupid or something? If so then I will not be able to take you seriously and will just continue to let the sales do the talking!

If you just want a Nintendo system that has a lot of games on it without all the damn droughts ... you'll probably be happy with the Switch. The sheer ability to combine their library output will over the course of even 3-4 years result in a lot of good Nintendo games on the system
JRPGfan said:

Hopefully their software output is many times what the Wii U's was, since they only have 1 system now to make games for.

See, the problem is, this only works if they have the guts to kill the 3DS. If they wimp out and keep it on life support, Switch will not get their full software output and this whole unified library thing will blow away like a fart in the wind.

3DS might get a little more support from Nintendo but nothing significant, as of now the only projects they have releasing after Switch launches are Mario Sports Superstars, Ever Oasis & Pikmin.

Other tha that we will probably see Miitopia release outside of Japan along with Nintendo publishing a few localized 3rd party games like Yokai Watch 3.

There is really no reason to believe Nintendo is going to invest heavily in 3DS next year and by 2018 support for it will essentially be dead.

That depends. If you played the game, then your opinion will have some weight to it, depending on how much you played. However, if you're just basing it on 1st impressions and trailers, then no, your opinion will not have the same weight as someone who has. That's like saying someone who got the basic idea of a game has the same credability as a reviewer, whose job it is to give a well informed opinion on it. No one would take the 1st person seriously. Most people who bought it seemed to have liked it indeed, since they have played it and know how it is. How can you know if you'll like a game or not if you haven't played it, after all. Saying the vast majority would dislike it is just a what if, as the overall reception is positive. It could have scewed the other way for all we know.

Well, yes, if you haven't played the game, then you don't really know much about it. Until you do, you just won't know how good, or perhaps not good, it is. And going with sales is a flawed way of looking at it, as well as just using something else to base your opinion on, rather than on your own. If we go with that logic, then I guess Sonic 2006 must be a really excellent game, or that games like Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Xenoblade Chronicles X sucked then. Or for that matter, Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star must be better games than the Thousand Year Door. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric sold more than Color Splash, which I guess means it's a better game that CS.
