Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Dead Silence - same creator as saw.. horror

I'm so glad somebody else liked Dead Silence. Those puppets were really fricking scary.

Die Hard (any of them), The Matrix (original) or The Simpsons Movie if you want comedy.

aww you already have seen shaun of the dead great movie, resident evil movies are also good

I don't want to create a new thread, so I'll just post it in here.

I was just curious if anybody has seen "Hitman"?

The movie is barely going to be released here in Japan in like 2 weeks, but I got 2 free tickets(from Famitsu.com! haha) for a special screening this Friday. I'm going to check it out anyway (free!), but I was just wondering if it was any good or not? reasonable?

There's a good thread on Rotten Tomatoes similar to this topic.

I went through it and compiled the movies that had good review scores on Rotten Tomatoes:

MovieAvg.Reviews
Ponette (1996)90%http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/ponette/
A Touch of Zen (1969)83%http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/touch_of_zen/

Bullet in the Head (1990)100%http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/bullet_in_the_head/

Of course some of the other movies mentioned in the thread may be good as well but without a good review score by critics (>80%) their word has to be taken on it.

There's also another thread that mentions some of the best movies screened at Cannes over the years:

Ok...I've got another recommendation....

Breakfast on Pluto....anyone seen this?

Chinatown is ****ing amazing.

A few others:

- City of Lost Children (French film, Ron Perlman, kinda like a Tim Burton film)

- City of God (Brazilian film, most excellent, kinda like a Tarantino film)

- Night of the Lepus (terrible horror film, 100% pure awesome)

- Dirty Pretty Things (very very interesting story... don't want to give it away)

- Adaptation (Nicholas Cage is pretty amazing in this)

- Punch Drunk Love (I love me some PT Anderson, also see Magnolia if you haven't already)

- Any Bogart or Grant film (North by Northwest, Vertigo, Casablanca, Maltese Falcon, The African Queen, The Big Sleep, Notorious, etc).

- 12 Angry Men (absolutely fascinating character study)

I could keep going on and on. I watch way too many movies. If you're into classic films, I can recommend a lot of them. I went through Netflix and ravaged their classics section several years back.

A few newer films that are very good:

- History of Violence

- Eastern Promises

- Michael Clayton (great line at the end but a pretty formulaic movie overall... still good though)

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

Brick
Pretty Persuasion
The Squid and the Whale
Coffee & Cigarettes
Blue Velvet

Just a few lesser knowns off the top of my head. Most are pretty recent.
