Forums - Gaming - One hour is more than enough to judge a game

Eh. Works for some games, not for others.

I don't think so. One hour is not enough to judge Persona 4 Golden imo. At that time in the game, I haven't even faced any enemies or bosses yet. I am now over 20 hours into the game and I enjoy it a lot.

Some games are barely out of the dreaded tutorial mode after an hour.

Unless is some FF... I remember FFX, 3 hours in, and U still cant start the normal gameplay... So no, it doesnt apply to everygame

1 hour in action games but.. open world games (sandbox, Rpgs, aventures) that's not correct...

Don't even get me started on Steins;Gate. I feel like punching the developers in the face. What were they thinking! Seriously. I tried so many times to play it and I find myself falling asleep.

It's not that the developer was being dumb on accident. It's just that those first hours have to be like that. Unfortunately, they're tough to endure, sure, but there's a reason for it.

It's the same thing with the Steins;gate anime. The first five episodes are an absolute chore. Then everything picks up, but those first five episodes are needed, even if they truly were an absolute chore.

Unless the game is very short, I feel you need to play more than one hr to get the feel of a game. Maybe 50% of the game is enough to get a general idea of what you're playing?

People mentioning FF12 are right... that one takes abit of time before it really starts to grow on you.

Tell me about it. 10 years after and it still hasn't grown

I agree really. If a game hasn't grabbed my attention after 1 hour it's going bye bye. Recent examples of this for me include destiny watchdogs witches 3 and kill zone on ps4. Some games though like Zelda have a traditional slower start but then open up but if the gameplay is bad first hour it's probably bad 8 hours later
