Looks awful, especially Mario sunshine should look very cartoon like with really bright colours and lightning.

"It looks awful" is one hell of a snap judgment. It doesn't look terrible. Really, it looks like a decent attempt at bringing Mario to UE4. Some of the textures need some work, and the lighting could use some tweaks. That said, the lighting is reminiscent of 75%+ restored island later in the game, so it isn't nearly as off as it could be otherwise. I appreciate that NPCs were included to add some life to the display, and it was otherwise something I think would work very well provided the textures were augmented just a bit more.

Besides objects not reacting quite right and the water effect being a bit questionable, I think it would be really interesting to see Super Mario Sunshine brought to life with this style.

As a fan of the original (hell, I still have my copy sitting by my Gamecube), I see no fatal flaws here that wouldn't be remedied by a couple days of reworking what's already there.

Something about the style feels lost. It looks worse, even with a higher polygon count. The inaccurate animations, physics, and water also contribute to this, unfortunately.

Having said that, I say good on them for making it. It's cool of them.

All I see is a Mario chracter model stuck into various ill-suited, ableit high def environments. The result looks terrible, in my eyes.

Now I see why nintendo chose the cartoon direction. Still awesome to see Mario so real looking. Even if he does look like a computer generated puppet, it's still a marvel.

People really dont understand what gives Mario games its charm and greatness. Nintendo should make a series to show how much love they put into creating them so these people understand it's more than just SHINY GRAFIX ZOMG BEST THING EVURR

Just like every single UE4 Nintendo game in UE4 it looks like shit. Bland and lifeless. It just shows tech is not end all of great looking games.
