There are some problems with moderation on this site, my last ban was for calling a troll a troll. Someone who creates threads stating outrageous things that they themselves don't believe for their own entertainment. I feel moderators need to use their minds more rather than just checking against a checklist of rules. Trolls can easily go unpunished by not violating any rules.

I could just create a thread saying "PS4 to outsell Switch 100:1" and act like I'm totally serious, and some people replying to the thread would no doubt fall into the bait and end up getting banned.

To be quite honest, I truly believe the moderation here is really good. And moderators take on the fact if you are a more reasonable user or not when applying a ban or a warning. So if you got banned, it was probably for a good reason.

Having said that, its sad to hear you leaving!Hope that you come back someday!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

People keep complaining about the mods here, but I haven't got banned in nearly 2 1/2 years... I wonder why!

I wouldn't go that far xD.

But yeah usually I find moderation is ok, but sometimes they just let the wrong people get away with it and ban people who don't really deserve it.

If alienating some people makes this a better place overall then I'm fine with that.

This website is actually a lot better now in that regard.  When I first joined, a particular member would make these passive-aggressive, sarcastic threads.  The mods then would leave comments like "lol good one" but newer members wouldn't understand that "humor" threads from veteran members could push the edges as much as they wanted.  A lot of new users often got banned.  The only bans I've received actually came from making jokes without knowing that newer mods did not allow them anymore.  The sudden change kind of bugs me but it's better overall if we don't have that.

Allowing "troll" to be an acceptable term is a very slippery slope, however.  If it's allowed then every comment critical of one platform or another will have someone using the word in an attempt to discredit the person they disagree with.  Happens constantly on other message boards.  I'm fine with forcing people to use arguments rather than catch-all terms like that.

Same here, not been moderated since I joined (I think).

Things do get heated here and there and sometimes things are said, but it isn't anything that can't be avoided.

Onion, crazier than GAF would be insane. GAF moderators almost come off elitist.

I have said a lot of crazy shit there, even funny insults, as a joke of course nothing personal , 0 bans. Here I was banned because of a meme that says "why so salty" or something like that, 3 days lol for a meme. Again, moderation is good but sometimes is like, man, c'mon!

Sure it shouldn't be a term that's just thrown around, it should be backed up with evidence, such as the post history of the person being accused blatantly showing what they are doing on this site.
