GameCube was pretty uninteresting imo, not much innovation other than the tiny size of the disk, at least that I can recall of. NES, Super Nintendo, Gameboy and N64 really changed the face of the video game industry.

I gotta say, as the OP of this thread, even though I consider the poll up there to be unreliable as heck (as I prefer just counting the people that vote and also post in the thread, to be more accurate), it really surprises me to see the Wii in second place. I thought the Wii was a fun console with a huge library of games, with plenty to choose from. Aside from some games that really suffered due to motion controls, nothing there was sort of almost winning what the title of the thread says. I think it's probably among my favourite consoles from Nintendo, actually.

So yeah, surprising to say the least.

Gamecube by far.

The hardware itself was superb; small, quiet, powerful, affordable, and reliable.

Unfortunately, it's first party software, which is the main draw of any Nintendo console, fell short of the mark. Franchises like 3D Mario, Zelda, and Starfox that were epic and amazing on N64 were neutered and lame on GCN.

Overall, I rank them SNES > Wii > N64 > Wii U > NES > GCN

This is pretty much how I rank them too. Except I put NES higher because of fond childhood memories. Lots of games I really liked and still play to this day.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

The Wii U, because of how poorly utilized it was overall.

Well thats been true since the N64 though...

and thats part of the problem, why even put your game on a system knowing it would flop? especially when there are systems where that wont happen?

To be fair, it's not like failure was a foregone conclusion; plenty of third party software performed well on post-SNES Nintendo consoles.

Wii U obviously. The first ever Nintendo home console that will never be a part of my collection. The Wii U is basically everything wrong with Nintendo all wrapped up in one half-assed, terribly named console.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

What this thread has taught me is that too many people here are too young to remember the N64, and also people really didn't dig into the wii library. I see a lot of false information in here about both consoles. I have over 20 games for Wii U but it's my least favorite. I'm really digging the bottom of the barrel right now trying to find new games to play on the Wii U that appeal to me. It's still a good system but Nintendo's worst.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Also, as someone who loves Gamecube, it pains me to see all this Gamecube hatin'.

People like to defend the Wii U because it is the fragile small ugly kid. The other ones can defend themselves. That's why they point other consoles, to not hurt the feelings of the kiddo.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

My best to worst:

1. SNES
2. NES
3. Gamecube
4. N64
5. Wii
6. WiiU

Ever since the GameCube, there have been some noticeable droughts occurring toward the end of the console lifecycle. These have only grown in size with each generation afterward, right up to my WiiU, which has spent half of its life untouched.

Just this alone has convinced me to wait for the Switch to get a decent library before buying into it, and I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one thinking this way, either.
