Maybe they should also port Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze to the Switch, just to give it a second chance at life.

Maybe all WiiU games

Compared to 36m of MKWii.

Oh, so that is the standard for Mario Kart games now? Ok...

...Obviously? Why wouldn't it be?

It shouldnt be the standard, thats like saying all Playstation consoles and all Nintendo handhelds need to sell over 150 million to be successful because thats the standard.

But i agree with the overall point that MK8 is being held back by the Wii U install base and has potential to sell much more by being on a popular device.

I think that not thinking that way is what separates companies like Apple and Disney from companies like Sony and Nintendo. You have a success, and you seak to surpass it and keep momentum going, always one-upping yourself. So yeah, it's exactly like saying that all Platstation consoles and all Nintendo handhelds need to sell over 150 million because it's the standard. The gold standard.

If I was running a company that had successes like that, and I told my staff that our next thing had to surpass that, and they said it can't be done because of XYZ, they'd all be fired because that's a failure's mindset. In a universe of infinite possibilities, there is always a possibility for greater success, and these companies have the resources and talent in spades to make them happen with consistency and exponentiality.

Im not saying they shouldnt try to reach or surpass those numbers but at the same time it shouldnt be considered a failure for not hitting those numbers.

If PS4 sells 120 million than its a huge success whether or not it surpassed PS2. Just like a 15 million selling Mario Kart title is a huge success even if it does not surpass MK Wii.

ESPECIALLY The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, and Star Fox Zero (so that it'd have better controls).

So now hardware sells software and not the other logical way? Everything to defend the unappealing Wii U library.

Software certainly does sell hardware but the hardware has to be appealing as well and like I said, the key software was spread out too much and in many cases released to late to make a huge differece.

A device needs to have a combination of good marketing/advertising, the correct price point & a steady flow of appealing hardware. Wii U failed on all those points.

When the big games like 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Splatoon release 6 months apart from one another with very little in between thats not enough to gain and maintain strong momentum, however if those games released in a much smaller window than it allows the system to gain strong momentum.

So, once again. Why release Wii U ports for the Switch if those games are not going to gain a strong momentum?

I mean, I don't know if I'd call them failures, but I'd definitely consider them disappointing. PS4 has PS3 to answer to, so 120m would be a massive success and a positive step on the way meeting and surpassing that 150m mile stone. So in that vacuum, I'd say something similar for Mario Kart. Though I think it'd need to do at least 25m for me to consider the franchise on it's way to reaching MKW, since they are consolidating two installed bases now.

Did you not read what I said or are you just not comprehending?

Like I already said more than once, these games were too spread out and too late, on top of that the system was overall unappealing due to things like poor marketing/advertising & high price.

If Wii U had solid marketing/advertising, a $250 price tag along with 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Splatoon, Zelda, Pokemon and some smaller support titles in the first year, like Switch is rumored to have than it would sold over 10 million year 1.

Mario Rabbids RPG sounds like a really weird idea but I won't judge it until I see if it's well executed. Personally I think Mario x Rayman would've been cooler.
Also what is The Silver Case? It is 1st party or 3rd party?
