Said in an interview one time that the 360 has a lifespan into 2015 thanks to Natal (Kinect), nothing regarding Sony whatsoever.
You do realize Nintendo supported more than one platform for a decade well before Sony ever did, yes? Wouldn't that make it a Nintendo strategy that Microsoft is supposedly copying? Also, what about the PS Vita? How can it be some grand Sony strategy if it only applies to certain platforms? The Vita proves that this idea of 10 year cycles that you have is crap. To put it simply, Sony is still supporting the PS3 because there is money in it. If there weren't money in it, they'd have moved on. Again, like the Vita. There was money to be made with the 360 a decade into its life, so MS supported it. Hell, according to the criteria in this thread, they still support the 360 eleven years after release. Why? There's money to be made. With the Xbox, they were losing money, so it was different. Again, like the Vita. If there were no money to be made on the PS3, they'd have moved on. Like they did with the Vita :)
As for the topic, whether they support it or not depends on your definition of support. Have they released anything other than MLB, a yearly sports game? I honestly don't know, I ran away from the PS3 OS as fast as I could once the new consoles came out. That and putting games on sale is enough for some, probably not for others. I think both Sony and MS are doing a fine job of still keeping gamers on their old platform engaged, with sales, a game every now and again, and "free" games on PS+/XBLG. Nintendo did have the Nintendo Selects push this year but other than that have not done much.
