Forums - Nintendo - Nvidia: Porting PS4, Xbox One, and PC games to Nintendo Switch is simple

Makes sense considering that unlike the wiiU, the devs are far more familiar with the hardware that is inside the Switch. Still, the developers will have to put some effort into making sure the ports aren't terrible since the Switch will most likely be weaker than the x1.

One thing I do hope they do is have GeForce Now (Nvidia's game streaming service) on the Switch at launch. If they can do that, people will have access to plenty of games to play even if it is through streaming which might help potential buyers with their decision.

That is the big question. If Switch has access to Grid then Switch will be viable for 3rd parties for the rest of its life. Problem will be convincing people to pay for the streaming service. But at least now its an option.

Of course the other option would have been to have more power from the start so these things wouldn't even have to be considered, but still.

That's really amazing to hear. That means we'll most likely be getting the PS4 version of Dragon Quest XI on switch. Hopefully KH3 and FFVII make it to Switch as well. Seriously, this is great news.

So, it was a flop because it didn't have an exclusive game in 2013, a year after it was replaced by the Wii U?

3 things and counting. Learning is fun.

yes, a console is for gaming, what had the Wii to offer in 2013? nothing? ok

The Wii U launched in 2012, making 2012 the last year of the Wii.  And in 2012, you had Xenoblade Chronicles, one of the highest rated RPGs of the generation and regarded as one of the best JRPGs in years.  There was also Last Story, another good game.  Nintendo actually closed out the Wii with strong games, just pathetically absent marketing.  Which was a problem that cripled the Wii U until Mario Kart 8 in 2014 and then plagued it again in large parts of 2015 and 2016.  But expecting the Wii to have a major exclusive in 2013 would be as stupid as expecting the PS3 to have a major exclusive in 2014.

Also, good things to hear.  Have to wait to know the particulars, but encouraging to hear Nvidia going in hard with Switch.

Yeaa. And I think if its $10 per month giving access to all the games similar to how Sony does it but at 1080p 60fps at PC max, I think people would subscribe to it. Specially since launch usually has draughts.

Well, colour me surprised. I thought that form factor would be enough to not make that possible, because of graphical power restrimptions. It's really nice to hear this.

Attaboy Nvida, port them all =)

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I knew that anyone that really rocked the Nintendo boat too hard would get banned...

OT:
This sounds all good, but that doesn't make it anything other than nvidia PR. What they are saying is that it is possible to port games. That doesn't mean people will do that for new titles that are even too demanding for the XB1 to output at 900p. My guess is that we will see a lot of the 2013-2015 crossgen ports come to the Switch. So, less demanding titles maybe... Time will tell of course.

It is near the end of the end....

Even if it is a similar architecture, it still has to overcome the gap in power. I doubt it will be as simple as lowering the resolution and turning down a couple effects. There is a real power gap between Switch and the twins. There will be games that will not be possible. This means that Switch will be missing 3rd party games.

You don't know this. Also resolution can be a huge factor.

Good. Now port the audience that will buy those games.

Hey, I don't want cancerous Xbox kids to come to Nintendo.
