We've seen the NES Classic. We've also seen mini-consoles from Sega and Atari (and Neo-Geo ones, if I can recall). Will we ever see a PS1 Classic of sorts? Or will Sony ignore this?

Sure why not, there is already 2 versions of it out there more or less, either the PSPgo or the PSTV can both play Playstation one games from the PSNstore and both of them perfectly connect to a TV for playstation action, the PSTV even has some nice options to improve on the original games in ways.

I hope not, if you want to play ps1 games on original hardware buy a ps1. If you're fine with it being emulated then use a pc/phone/toaster.

The same could have been said with Nintendo/Sega/Atari games. And they released plug-and-play consoles.

I don't know, if they want to exploit nostalgia perhaps we'll see it someday, but it's kind of pointless when every PS console except for the PS4 can play PlayStation games.

I really doubt we'll see anything like that from Sony. With the availability of so many older games on PSN/XBL/....E-shop? (lol no idea), I don't get why anybody would want another hunk of plastic to accompany their retro gaming purchases. I saw somebody ask about an X-Box classic the other day as well. No interest in the NES mini, or anything comparable from Sony/MS.

That would be great. It would need to have the best of the best PS1 games on it though...and not 20 JRPGs.

I doubt it. Why make a PS1 Classic when they could just release the same games on PSN at $15 bucks a pop. No way Sony does this.

As much as I love the PS1 (probably my favorite console ever) I don't want this to happen... Don't get me wrong, I love it that we can play the old PS1 games on PS3 and PS Vita but re-releasing the PS1 console as a whole would damage the legacy of the console imo. They should just release all the PS1 games as digital on PS4 just like they did on PS3 because that's already enough.

Not before I can have my SNES Classic.
