Shorter cycle = base console, better buy.  According to your logic.

I didn't ask you.

Amazing how having the best specs and the best graphics, hands down, immediately becomes 'not important' to some people the moment their system can't claim the title.

It is like the people that claimed power wasn't important, and immediately became very obsessed with power the moment a new system comes along.

People are just so very inconsistent.

I sincerely doubt that people 'claimed power wasn't important' when being forced to defend their choice of console. I can't imagine anyone gloating that their console had a slightly less powerful GPU, for example. "Suck it, buddy: my system can't do as many polygons!" If they did, they aren't who I'm talking about. I just hope we can move to a time where console choice alone doesn't prompt factions to make other factions defensive.

And its not out until next year lol by the time it launches i imagine we won't be far off talking about the ps5

So the cycle from ps4p to ps5 will be that short? Good that I chose the base model.

I don't think the pro has extended the life of the ps4,  i have no doubt we will be hearing stuff about the ps5 in 2018 given we were already hearing about the ps4(rumours) in 2012.

Sony: The PS4 Pro is the most powerful console in the world.
MS: Please, wait for meeeeeeeee!

If the Scorpio is stronger than the Pro, there's absolutely nothing stopping Sony fans from buying one. Rather than feel threatened, feel hopeful. Newer, better hardware options is not a bad thing. And if you don't like the games it offers or whatever, you'll still have other options.

Arguing about video games feels like arguing over who watches the best porn, at this point. I don't care what you enjoy. As long as I can get what I enjoy!

The term "Microsoft" might not be the best argument when analogizing porn.

Lets say Scorpio releases around November 2017 and cost $600 (this is what many sources predict). Sony's answer at the time could be dropping PS4 pro price to $300-$350. Then consumer will have a choice spent $600 on 6tflop system which runs most of the game in native 4k or spent half or almost half of the money for 4.2tflop system running less native 4k games, some checkerboard rendered upscaled from 1440p-1800p' which by the way look great on 4k tv. What would you do?
I understand its hypothetical, but worth to give a thought.

They forgot to mention really hi-fidelity VR this time.
I wonder what kind of headset they want to pair with Scorpio.

Lol really really true 4k... It will most likely deliver more native 4K games than the PS4 Pro, but don't pretend the Pro cannot and has not already delivered native 4K AAA games(Fifa 17, The Last of Us Remastered, Skyrim Remastered etc).

Don't get me wrong, Microsoft are clearly pulling out the PR speak on 4k and native.

But listing Fifa and a couple of last-gen ports with increased resolution isn't really the way to prove them wrong

The market has always been sensitive to price. Power, features and capabilities are nice to have...but at the ideal price. The safe bet and expectation is that the Pro will sell more due to it's price.
