23- Left 4 Dead 2

Hint for 22- Last game in the respective franchise before it made the jump from one console manufacturer to another.

Hint for 21: This game would make the top 15 best games lists for both the PS2 and the Wii.

Super Mario Galaxy

Where Nintendo ventured into new areas during the 7th Generation, we would thankfully still get entries into some of their most revered series. Among them the 3D Mario platforming adventures and what we got with 'Super Mario Galaxy' was one of the prime examples in the genre as a whole.

Like any Mario game, Mario needs to rescue Princess Peach. Bowser has taken her and the castle into space however and each level is a different "galaxy". The levels mostly revolve around a collection of planetoids inspired from an earlier tech-demo, "Super Mario 128",around which Mario can move in a spherical motion. The concept was actually tested briefly in 'The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess'. This gameplay idea gives the game a very fresh premise, which is instantly interesting in the way it opens up new gameplay and surprising level-design. There are however also classic-styled 'flat' levels and slides, plus additional collectable Stars for which special objectives need to completed, which means the game offers plenty of platforming variety.

Besides that, the small confined spaces made for the Wii to even be able to unexpectedly shine in a graphical way, and the game doesn't look out of place next to games from the much more powerful competitor systems. The second game looked even better, but I feel the hub-world and the hidden story in this game, makes it come out on top. In any case, 'Super Mario Galaxy' made a strong case to me in favor of console gaming.

Had to cut #22 short, because otherwise I couldn't post it at my scheduled time, but anyway, moving on then;

#21: The campaign individually follows the paths of three soldiers, until one of them reaches the roof of the enemy's government building and plants the flag. A famous, impactful scene in real-life history.

22: Final Fantasy 6?

21: Resident Evil 4?

22- Correct.

21- Not quite.

You know, the longer this list goes the more I'm reminded of games that I completely forgot to include when I was putting it together. Anyway:

#22 Super Mario Bros. 3

Still to this day the game I consider to be the best 2D platformer ever made. Everything just came together perfectly with Mario 3. The gameplay is exceptionally good, the new power-ups change things up just right and provide new ways to beat the game, the level design is impeccable and Koji Kondo's music has achieved an iconic status for a reason. Just an amazing game all around.

Hint for #21:

An action-adventure  game that took its inspiration from the chinese novel Journey to the West.

Alright, hint 21.

This story tells of a young man in a mercenary group, who must quickly fill up some shoes to take lead. He and his merry band take on a small job, which eventually becomes much bigger than he expected. Entering a battle between man and beast, this hero of blue and gold will rise to end the true terror taking place.
