Forums - Nintendo - Phil Spencer Receives An NES Mini From Nintendo

I've always maintained Nintendo and MS make better bedfellows than Nintendo and Sony, against prevailing wisdom.

If Microsoft built the hardware and online functionality, and managed the Windows side of things, and Nintendo had complete control over software, OS, and mission statement, that could be an interesting partnership.

What a crazy post.

Nintendo gets complete control over the OS, but Microsoft manages the Windows side of things. That's at odds, isn't it? Nintendo gets complete control over mission statement, but Microsoft builds the hardware and online functionality. That too is at odds, isn't it?

Additionally, what's the point of this fantasy? Microsoft takes the loss on hardware, Nintendo gets to do what they want? I don't think that would be agree upon either. And why should Nintendo pick such a weak partner to begin with? What advantage is Microsoft going to bring to the table, realistically speaking?

The only kind of partnership that makes sense is that Microsoft becomes a third party publisher on Nintendo systems, but that's about it.

You have it sideways...

I doubt they'll be tweeting a picture of the ps4 pro in the next week.

A positive tweet from Phil Spencer is a privilege, not a right.

Lol I'm talking future tense here and not past.  I'm aware of his past attempts at being viewed as a good guy in thr industry.

And there's nothing privileged about receiving a tweet from a pr guy.  he's being paid to uphold a good image.

People, he's simply gotten a mini console from nintendo. Calm the hell down. This isn't the elections.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Am I the only who feels a budding bromance between MS and Nintendo? I mean, both are often blindsided by Sony and when both do perform great, it's often at their rival's expense. Could we actually see some "the enemy of my enemy is my friend here?"

Microsoft did try to buy Nintendo out a while ago. Then Xbox was born. So Nintendo created Playstation and Xbox, lol. So, making up and ruling the world together is an idea long gone.

Why the distinction?

You don't think complimenting the competition is a good thing?

No different than many of us. If we don't hold up a good image at our respective work place, we're likely terminated. And as far as I know, Phil didn't have to give props to Uncharted 4 in his tweet but he did anyways.

It doesn't matter why,  fact is I meant future.  Phil doesn't have to but he does it for the good pr.  Nothing genuine about it.

Phil Spencer probably has a ton of emulators on his XBO not available to the public!

When am I going to to get a NES Mini, Nintendo?

How do you know this? That Phil compliments the competition for the good PR and not because he genuinely means it?

I think Nintendo should just accept Windows. They're a rinky dink little company by comparison, they're never going to build an OS on par with that and the OS for all the Wii/DS/3DS/Wii U quite frankly sucked, which isn't unpredicable. Nintendo has a tiny fraction of the employees, their OS division is probably liek 100 people max. Why waste money and resources on that.

Their OS don't suck.  Was the Wii U OS sluggish at first?  Sure but it has improved greatly.  You must really hate all smartphone OS except Windows phones if you hate Nintendo OS.  What else do you need besides icons to click on to launch games or streaming apps?  I sure as hell don't need ads on my home screen.
