that Rollercoaster Dreams post above is amazing, the review is so good!

has anyone played the Battlefront VR game? how long is it?

i feel like PSVR is dying faster then the Vita did at this point...

You mean the Rogue Squadron DLC? It's great, only 15 to 20 minutes though. Worth another play-through yet just another proof of concept.

In their interview with Citerion games they touch on an interesting point for developing VR games:

“There’s a certain rule book of kind of visuals we’ve developed over the years for flat screens,” Crimmins says of developers. “Half of it doesn’t work in VR, so it’s really frustrating for a lot of people, especially experts that are working in the field, and half of their expertise now becomes irrelevant.”

He likens the discord to the uninspiring first wave of mobile games, and emphasizes that creators need to develop a new language that understands what works best with the technology.

It's very noticeable in Hypervoid. that still works since it's a simple schmup where you always look forwards, yet you notice the things that look off and when you turn your head a lot of elements don't turn right. It's like the early 3D games where certain textures (eg power ups) were always facing you. The more effects heavy a game is, the more work to reprogram those effects to work in VR. Fire, smoke, lightning, etc all need to be reworked. Plus the sky box is much more noticeable in VR. Despite their efforts you can still easily spot where the 3D world ends and the skybox begins in Rogue squadron.

I don't know if it's dying. After the first wave of quality games it seems a lot of me too developers are trying to get a bit of cash out of minimal effort, hoping to catch a ride on that 2.6 million forecasted wave. Losing those is no big loss. Next year has Resident Evil 7, Golem, Dino Frontier, GT Sport, Star Trek Bridge commander, Ace Combat 7, Far point and Obduction coming. So I'm not worried about it dying just yet. There will be some good indies too. It's just that early cash-ins seem to be taking advantage of the traditional slow period between launch games and what follows.

New offerings for psvr this week, pretty bad
- Whole bunch of micro transactions, skins and bobleheads, for Battlezone.
- Fruit Ninja VR (isn't that a free game on mobile?)
- Lethal, a basic shooting gallery.
- Rollercoaster dreams, very basic looking theme park game

Rollercoaster dreams has a demo. I tried it, yet VR mode is not included in the demo, nor trying out any of the rides. You can only walk around in some ugly looking park someone created. Useless demo, only highlights how bad the game looks. Avoid. The review is very entertaining to read though :)

Quality is going downhill fast with minigames and trash :/

Actually, Lethal VR and Fruit Ninja VR are both a lot of fun. Fruit Ninja is pretty light on content, but Lethal has a lot of different challenges and should easily take more than an hour to beat and has a lot of replay value.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

These both seem a little hyperbolic, no?

Just in the last month PSVR has gotten Holoball, The X-Wing mission, I Expect You To Die, Surgeon Simulator, and Lethal VR. That's more than one good game a week, and the systems only been out for like 10 weeks and has like 60 something games and experiences. Plus there's still a ton of games already announced for 2017.

Dying faster than the Vita? Has a system ever gotten so much support as fast as PSVR?

Played a friend's PSVR at his place with a group. It definitely works and draws you in, made for a great party gaming experience as people of various skill levels could participate.

While not sold yet given current library, I will say can see the potential for some amazing game experience if it gets support.

Which games did you try?

Which games did you try?

Playroom, Until Dawn, Call of Duty, Batman, Superhyper Cube, Rez, some other demos.

I didn't get sick, and it was fun in short bursts, not sure I could handle a long haul.

hmm that is interesting, thanks for the link!

by dying i mean i do like the Vita but the support just want enough (for me) to be viable as a system to put time and money into. some indi games are great but in VR i want to be blown away. i really wanted to get PSVR about a month ago but got the Pro instead and tbh im happy i did. Farpoint looks cool but for me thats it right now, even then i know i wpuldnt buy it if it was a normal PS4 game.

i would also die in RE7 VR so thats a no go XD

2018 Hit List: Shadow of the Colossus, Detroit, Dreams, Spider-Man, God Of War, Days Gone, Medievil, Tomb Raider 3, RDR2

It's not dying, but I do feel the quality of releases has gone down since release. Surgeon simulator hardly works if reviews are to be believed, and the others are fun yet also pretty basic and short. The quantity of releases is fine, yet quality isn't all there. From those games up there only I Expect you to die offers a polished quality game, however it can be beat in 45 minutes. It still kept me busy for 3 nights to get all the objectives and is certainly the best release in the last few weeks.

Anyway what we have so far in reverse order:
- Jaunt (movie experiences)
- Fruit Ninja
- Lethal
- Rollercoaster Dreams
- Fat city
- Hatsune Miku 3rd stage
- Starship disco
- I expect you to die
- Perfect
- Tethered divine edition (price raised)
- Wherewolves within
- Surgeon simulator
- O! My Genesis planet Dago
- Crystal Rift
- How we soar
- Pinball FX2 (+season pack, +walking dead table)
- Holoball
- NBA 2K experience
- Proton pulse plus
- VirZoom arcade
- Space rift Episode 1
- The martian experience
- Time Machine
- Hatsune Miku 2nd stage
- Eagle Flight
- Robinson: The journey
- COD: Jackal Assault experience
- O! My genesis
- Hypervoid
- Super Hypercube demo
- Carnival games
- Kismet
- Weeping doll
- World war toons beta
- Tethered
- Windlands
- Pixel gear
- Hatsune Miku (demo, 1st stage, season pass)
- Sports bar
- Ace Banana
- Battlezone
- Driveclub
- Gunjack
- Headmaster
- Here they lie
- Job simulator
- Keep talking and nobody explodes
- Loading human: Chapter 1
- Rez Infinite
- RIGS
- The assembly
- The brookhaven experiment
- Waddle home
- Batman Arkam experience
- Rise of the tombraider experience
- 100ft robot golf
- Alumette (short movie)
- Eve Valkyrie
- Harmonix Music
- Hustle kings
- Invasion! (short movie)
- Littlestar cinema
- VR Demo disc
- VR worlds
- Superhypercube
- Stardust Ultra
- Playroom
- Thumper
- Tumble
- Until Dawn
- Wayward sky
- Within (movie app)

And there's 30 free Trackmania Turbo levels, Vev: Vivo ex Viva and SW Rogue squadron DLC.

It's certainly not hurting in quantity, yet there were a lot bigger releases nearer launch. As I already said, it's probably low budget titles taking advantage of the quiet period following the launch. Anyway I played more Thumper last night and getting more tempted to get Until dawn after all.

That's because there were a bunch of games ready to go just waiting for the hardware to release. Had PSVR launched in September instead of October many of those games would have still likely been ready to go. Plus, It's December. As far as I can tell there's been one big game released this month for any system that's only because it was delayed. The end of the year is a slow time for games, that's nothing new and I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I got back into Windlands last night, great game. But still the one most at risk for motion sickness. The slippery movement doesn't help, or regularly having to look straight up, craning your head backwards, to aim for a tree to latch on to. I keep trying to adjust the view up or down with the right analog stick yet that only does horizontal rotation. This kind of game could really benefit from pupil tracking, so you can aim up with your eyes instead of having to force you head into awkward positions while sitting on a couch. The headset is actually leaving marks on the headrest of my leather couch.

My goal for tonight, get upto the ship and unlock the beacon beyond that. Great open level design makes the game.
