Forums - Gaming - I'm feeling the Switch will struggle to sell 10 million units.

No. Simply no way. It'll sell that in a year I'm hoping. . I mean.... 2 holiday seasons in it's first year....

I'm confused, what 2 holiday seasons?

Umm... Easter! Pfft.... Obviously....

I should really stop posting after 1 am....

It is really hard to sell less than the Dreamcast in the same time 2 times in a row. The NX will be more successful than the Wii U.

We know...one game officially, correct? Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Hard for me to estimate sales when no idea what their 2017 line up looks like.

Given the tech I can personally say most excited I've been about Nintendo since Game Boy Advance / Gamcube era.

It's launching with BOTW. I can't imagine a world where this doesn't sell 10 million lifetime unless something is DRASTICALLY wrong with the system or price.

I also see no market for it and the design is a waste of resources. Why have a mobile unit and display if you cannot use it when playing on TV? Why have such a weak ARM CPU that cannot play PS4-quality games. Why does it seem to be able to play Iphone and Android-quality games only and who wants that?

The only benefit is that it will likely allow Nintendo to port all own games to Android / IOS without much effort and allow 3rd parties to port their Android / IOS games over without much effort too (see Skyrim, my bet is that the unannounced Android / IOS version was shown).

But investors will be happy as soon as Nintendo announces IOS compatibility or portability.

This is sillier than John Lucas' WiiU prediction..

The Dreamcast sold a total of 8.2 million units in its lifetime according to VG Chartz. What are you talking about?

A unified Nintendo software catalogue on one platform.... 10 million...

For the unified library idea to come to fruitition, they'll need to kill 3DS once Switch launches, and I'm concerned they don't have the guts.

The unified catalogue idea may not come to fruition if they decide to keep supporting 3DS.

Maybe not full-on initially, but I think it's a given that it's going to happen.

Better sooner than later; Switch cannot afford to stumble out of the gate like Wii U did. Their future as a hardware manufacturer depends on Switch being a success, they need to throw everything they've got at it and kill the persistent droughts that have plagued them for the last 5 years. Once it releases, I hope for their sake they don't make any more major 3DS games.
