Like he said, third party by 2020 33 39.29%

RIP Switch 51 60.71%

Wish they would go third party. Hell I wish everyone would.

The only way Nintendo would go third party is if Switch was another Wii U level failure, and then they had yet another Wii U level failure after that. That's how much money they're sitting on still from the Wii/DS juggernauts, not to mention all the money the 3DS has brought in for them this era. And Sun/Moon are set to potentially be one of the best selling game of all time. Nintendo is a proud company with a lot of rainy day stockpiles. They're still nowhere near in the level of danger that would force them into third party. So no we will not be seeing their games on Xbox One or PS4 ever. PS5 era would be the absolute earliest Nintendo would be forced into third party, and probably not even that soon. Not that I think it will happen at all, Nintendo knows the ups and downs of the idustry and how to survive and rebuild themselves.

How are the PS4/5/Scorpio/XBox more competetion for the Switch than iOS/Android are?

Switch can co-exist with the Playstation/XBox even if Nintendo decides to give PS/XB a few games. They already do this with iPhone/iPad/Android.

It doesn't have to be one or the other.

*Yawn* oh another one of these clueless articles. Anything else new in the world?

If that starts happending.... theres like zero reason to get a switch.

Not neccessarily.

Nintendo chooses strategically to put certain games on iOS/Android ... you still have to buy a Switch to get your full fill of Nintendo games.

Nintendo could do something similar eventually for Playstation/XBox. You get a taste of Nintendo IP there, but to get the full Nintendo experience you have to buy a Switch.

If Mario & Zelda go 3rd party... I could probably live without splatoon/pikmen/metroid/smash ect... Pretty sure theres alot that feel that way.

All switch games will be technically compatible to Android / Iphone with almost no porting effort required because the Switch uses a 100% standard mobile hardware SOC. It is only up to Nintendo to make investors dreams come true. If Skyrim gets released on mobile platforms (like the Switch and Iphone) why should Nintendo limit Zelda sales by making it exclusive?

Which Mario & Zelda? Because "Mario & Zelda" themselves represent like 4-5 different franchises/subfranchises on their own.

Like for example, what if Nintendo made F-Zero (new), Metroid (new), and a Zelda: Breath of the Wild 4K port for XBox/Playstation. But they then had a new Zelda game for the Switch.

And Switch is getting say an Uncharted Switch or Halo Switch on top of that.

I bet you'd still buy a Switch on top of the PS4 you probably were going to buy anyway.

People have been litterally saying that Nintendo is doomed and going third party since the nes days, look it up and you'll find tons of old posts.

I'm reasonably sure that we don't have any posts from the "NES days" saying people should go third party.

No but they have been doomed since the NES days. They have been saying go 3rd party since N64 era tho

This is more akin to the people who say "New iPhone is underwhelming, Apple is finished". The 80s/early 90s Nintendo was practically 100% of the entire gaming industry, people didn't even call it video games, they just said "Nintendo".

Ed Semrad was also always biased against Nintendo, lol. I remember he used to be a big writer for EGM back in the 90s, and he *always* pushed Sega over Nintendo. I remember EGM bashing Nintendo for example for hyping up "Star Fox" (for SNES) and the Super FX chip too much and saying Silpheed for Sega CD was the better game, lol. Nintendo had a "dome" build for Star Fox during CES (precursor to E3) and Semrad bashed Nintendo for it, lol. Sorry Ed but polygonal 3D WAS the future, you pushing Silpheed on the Sega CD was bullshit.

As you can tell I've followed Nintendo for a *long* time, lol. Ed Semrad pissed me off back in the day.

15-20mil on PlayStation alone!? It's not even going to sell that much on Wii U + Switch combined!

It would be really hilarious if Nintendo stopped making consoles and went full mobile. I would hate it, but it would still be hilarious
