I would like to see a chart like this one, after feb next year.

*graph pic here cut*

Just to see if its still tracking ahead of the PS2.

It will dedinitely be ahead of the PS2 again by febuary next year. thats the 39th month, The PS2 was at around 50-52M then. The PS4 will be at at least 54-55M at the same point.

But by around Aug/Sept next year the PS4 will be behind the PS2 again tho, only so much you can do when still over $100 more expensive.

Yeah the price differnce...

2017 should be good too for the PS4 though.

Persona 5, GTSport, Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroid: Become Human, God of War, Gravity Rush 2, Dreams, Days Gone , Spider-Man ?,...

I dont think PS4 has peaked yet when it comes to sales. With PS4slim and PS4pro, and these titles, and the price cut it finally got.

It might stick close to the PS2 throughout 2017, depending on how big a effect these things have.

Thought the PS4 was slightly overtracked, but looks like it's undertracked!!!

Nice.

Hopefully at some point before hillary/trump destroy the world we'll get indication on XBO's situation.

We will get something at the end of the holidays.

"Once again Xbox One was the most popular American console during the holidays*, dominating all other American consoles!"

* Holiday months for MS are July, Aug, Sept, and Oct.

I'm pretty sure that Xbox One will be the best selling American console world wide in every month. No need for confusing asterisks.

I will lay a golden egg if GOW and Spiderman comes in 2017.

I agree with you tho, the PS4 hasn't leaked yet. I've said this before, the PS4 peaks when it hits the $199 price point. I think having a PS4pro allows Sony that kinda flexibility to have a $199 PS4 and $299 PS4pro sometime in 2017 and 2018. It just comes down to how aggressive they aim to be.

Which would be insane...

Going from 1.3m overtracked on May, to 1m undertracked on October! It could be overshipped for instance... I wouldn't be surprised, I have that suspicion since previous quarter after a research on some official numbers and comparisons!

Also, lets not forget the already big deals for PS4 slim, that thing isn't selling as much as it should ( see september NPD ) , mainly due to the anticipation of PS4 pro! Perhaps stores are stuffed with ps4 slim stock, because as I aforesaid, that thing isn't selling as much as it should and that's why the great deals,  which is unexpected to see  them happening so soon, the system was just released...

Overshipped? No.

Shippments were actually down by 100k from the similar quater last year. This shows they are actually undershipping especially when you consider what their FY target was and still is.

And dont forget that the slim was onky available for 2 weeks in September. And those big deals you mention for the slim aren't indicative of it not selling well. That's exactly what the slim is there for. To have ridiculous deals and sell as many as possible especially in this time of the year. Just want and notice how there probably wouldn't be a single deal for the PS4pro.

And don't forget that the pro was also announced and is just days away. What this does is that right now there will be more used PS4s on the market than ever before. As a lot of early PS4 adopters will be trading their consoles in in anticipation for the PS4pro (I am one). Those used consoles will be even cheaper than the slim, so that will also result in a slight slowdown in sales.

Just wait till the end of December, then all these things and factors will become clear.

I agree with the bolded... As for overshipping, I was talking about Q1 when shipments seemed to me to be to high taking into account some official sales numbers!

Tell me your opinion on this:

Vgc has ps4 at 177k globablly, in the last week of May! Lets say that ps4 was  undertracked  a lot that week and sold double of that!

Ps4 sold 40m units  as of May 22, and shipped 43.5m as of June... How much did it sell between May 23 and end of June? More than 1m?It sold 230k units in the USA  and 106k in Japan  on june, lets assume that sales in Europe were double of those in the USA, so 460k ( which is far-fetched for obvious reasons) 50k  on Americas ( excluding USA ) and 100k in the row, see I'm very generous!

That's an aggregate of almost 1.3m, which would mean 2.2m on the shelves! Of course, I have overshot in my sales assumptions! Do you see now, why 2.7m units on the shelves wouldn't be impossible?

solid numbers. I look forward to buying a PS4 Pro next year. I'd buy a Nintendo home console instead, but they abandoned me.

About two million in the channel and stock sounds about realistic, which means we probably have it undertracked by about 800k-1 million or so lifetime on the front page. Better tracking than Q1 anyways!

Still think it's only going to do ~50M this year?

Nah, my sig prediction is probably a lot more realistic. That said, I still don't think it will sell 110 million or more lifetime...

Honestly? no. I doubt Sony has more than 1.5m-2m units sitting on shelves in stores.

I suspect VGC is just undertracking the PS4 by 700k+.

I'm more flabbergasted that Mobile has managed to make an operating income (which I know it's not the same as profit). Or maybe I'm reading it wrong.

Interesting how the PS4 managed to ship that many consoles. I'm not saying it'll reach PS2 numbers, but 100 million consoles is not out of the question.
