Overshipped? No. Shippments were actually down by 100k from the similar quater last year. This shows they are actually undershipping especially when you consider what their FY target was and still is. And dont forget that the slim was onky available for 2 weeks in September. And those big deals you mention for the slim aren't indicative of it not selling well. That's exactly what the slim is there for. To have ridiculous deals and sell as many as possible especially in this time of the year. Just want and notice how there probably wouldn't be a single deal for the PS4pro. And don't forget that the pro was also announced and is just days away. What this does is that right now there will be more used PS4s on the market than ever before. As a lot of early PS4 adopters will be trading their consoles in in anticipation for the PS4pro (I am one). Those used consoles will be even cheaper than the slim, so that will also result in a slight slowdown in sales. Just wait till the end of December, then all these things and factors will become clear. |
I agree with the bolded... As for overshipping, I was talking about Q1 when shipments seemed to me to be to high taking into account some official sales numbers!
Tell me your opinion on this:
Vgc has ps4 at 177k globablly, in the last week of May! Lets say that ps4 was undertracked a lot that week and sold double of that!
Ps4 sold 40m units as of May 22, and shipped 43.5m as of June... How much did it sell between May 23 and end of June? More than 1m?It sold 230k units in the USA and 106k in Japan on june, lets assume that sales in Europe were double of those in the USA, so 460k ( which is far-fetched for obvious reasons) 50k on Americas ( excluding USA ) and 100k in the row, see I'm very generous!
That's an aggregate of almost 1.3m, which would mean 2.2m on the shelves! Of course, I have overshot in my sales assumptions! Do you see now, why 2.7m units on the shelves wouldn't be impossible?
