Nintendo's inability to manage a consistent release schedule isn't an excuse for shafting their customers. Whatever Nintendo does in the future doesn't give me back the money I spent on their crappy system or the games that they ported to other platforms.

they arent shafting anybody, you have been asked this dozens of times, how do those games coming to Switch change the fact that you got to play them on Wii U for 2-3 years? How does Breathe of the Wild being cross-gen affect you?

Actually it's just Reggie that shafted people, but it's not his fault, when his body is ready and his chin well lubed and shiny, he really can't resist anymore.

I didn't buy a Wii U to get a crap version of Zelda or games that are obsolete in two years. I didn't buy games like FIFA or Madden that are basically obsoleted by their sequels. Smash Bros Melee wasn't replaced by Brawl, Brawl wasn't replaced by SSB4, but SSB4 will get replaced by SSB4 Switch. It does affect me when Nintendo gives everything to people who buy a Switch yet they can't give an ambassador program for Wii U owners for their garbage product with garbage library and games that they make obsolete in two years because they are ported to Switch with extra content.

Also, Breath of the Wild might not be cross-gen after all, because Nintendo can't even plan localization properly.

your arguments arent making any sense

Breathe of the Wild Wii U is going to be a crap version? How so?

MK8/Smash 4 on Wii U will be obsolete? In what way?

these statements are nonsense.

I don't see why Nintendo wouldn't make it cross-gen if they have been mostly showing off the Wii U version of the game.

As someone who skipped the Wii U and likes what he sees in the early promo materials for Switch, I would actually like to see a cross-gen Breath of the Wild rather than wait 3-4 years for a Zelda game on the Switch if I buy one.

While there is a minority of Wii U buyers who are complaining about the platform becoming replaced and a fair amount of the Nintendo core audience who were satisfied with their Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Mario Bros, etc. there is currently very little incentive to buy a Wii U this late into the hardware generation, especially with the Switch right around the corner.

That said, I'm not counting on it.

As for why Nintendo would only show off the Wii U version of the game, they're not really showing anything specific with regards to Switch games (should consumers be troubled by this?). I was under the impression it was going to be the last big release for the Wii U, but due to the two delays, "some time in 2017" appears to be the release date and it may well end up being released after the Switch hits the market.

Those games are still available on Wii U so there is no problem.

and the online functions will be cut in 2018 as the latest

One of the big issues Wii U had was that it had too few big games and many of them released too late in its life. By releasing these updated ports, Switch gets these big hitting franchises early on while also allowing these teams to get a 2nd game out relatively early on it its life.

I know you feel shafted by Nintendo but try looking at the big picture, in the long term this will be beneficial to Nintendo and its fans.

Nintendo's inability to manage a consistent release schedule isn't an excuse for shafting their customers. Whatever Nintendo does in the future doesn't give me back the money I spent on their crappy system or the games that they ported to other platforms.

Okay, how much money DID you spend on the Wii U? When did you buy it and what was the price?

Which Wii U games did you buy and how much did you pay for them? Which of these did you enjoy, which didn't you enjoy?

You could have sold games you didn't enjoy with a minimal loss and you can still sell the whole system with minimal loss if you don't enjoy it... the prices haven't gone down much.

Put up or shut up!... or how we Germans say: "Butter bei die Fische!"

Writing was on the wall months ago. I sold my Wii U earlier this year knowing that there was no real need to keep it. For me Switch is looking pretty much ideal. I'll have access to the Wii U games I was most likely to start missing pretty early in it's life, and I got more for my Wii U stuff than a Switch will cost at launch.

I just hope they nail the "Virtual Console" side of it this time. As the Switch has the opportunity to be something truly special.

Seems to boil down to "Exclusivity entitlement".

Well yes, the Wii U was only worth it because of its exclusives. If they are released on the Switch at or near launch then those games are not exclusives at all.
