I didn't buy a Wii U to get a crap version of Zelda or games that are obsolete in two years. I didn't buy games like FIFA or Madden that are basically obsoleted by their sequels. Smash Bros Melee wasn't replaced by Brawl, Brawl wasn't replaced by SSB4, but SSB4 will get replaced by SSB4 Switch. It does affect me when Nintendo gives everything to people who buy a Switch yet they can't give an ambassador program for Wii U owners for their garbage product with garbage library and games that they make obsolete in two years because they are ported to Switch with extra content.

Also, Breath of the Wild might not be cross-gen after all, because Nintendo can't even plan localization properly.

I don't see why Nintendo wouldn't make it cross-gen if they have been mostly showing off the Wii U version of the game.

As someone who skipped the Wii U and likes what he sees in the early promo materials for Switch, I would actually like to see a cross-gen Breath of the Wild rather than wait 3-4 years for a Zelda game on the Switch if I buy one.

While there is a minority of Wii U buyers who are complaining about the platform becoming replaced and a fair amount of the Nintendo core audience who were satisfied with their Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Mario Bros, etc. there is currently very little incentive to buy a Wii U this late into the hardware generation, especially with the Switch right around the corner.

That said, I'm not counting on it.

As for why Nintendo would only show off the Wii U version of the game, they're not really showing anything specific with regards to Switch games (should consumers be troubled by this?). I was under the impression it was going to be the last big release for the Wii U, but due to the two delays, "some time in 2017" appears to be the release date and it may well end up being released after the Switch hits the market.
