So yeah not hating or anything I think the switch looks great but I'm seeing a huge problem. It's not gonna be the combined software output we are imagining. Or should I say will games like pokemon and Monster hunter be Made in a simpler 3ds type isometric game because they are not going to want to invest millions off pounds creating new engines spending years in the process. They like quick cheap to make simple games that sell by the shit ton. This is why I think we are still gonna have software droughts.

There gonna have to upgrade anyway. That's part of the buisness if they want to go foward.

And I don't remember Pokemon being a quick cheap game to make .... espescially with the new generation coming.

I'm not sure off the budget of pokemon tbh but it can't be say as much as The Witcher 3 for example which was 10 million I think or say GTA5 that was 50 million. But how much would a brand new HD 3D open world pokemon or MH game gonna cost.

That's the part I didn't understand as well.

That's my point.  Is it gonna be full off low res small games like pokemon sun and moon that look shit on 65inch tvs but great on 6 inch screens plus some decent First second and third party ( like wii u) COD AC MK LoZ etc or a mix off both?

Why would that matter? People want those games. You see the reaction to NES Mini? Those games look like "shit" and people are eager to play them. Why spend tens of millions of dollars building some highly detailed open world when consumers have proven they're just fine with games that look like 3DS titles. Frankly it's a waste of time and resources.

I can't see that being a problem.
The adaptation to HD will hurt some companies, but maybe not that many. Most companies have already years of HD development experience. The hurdle doesn't need to exist as before.

You will see a mix of game of all sort of budgets. There's nothing strange about that and i can't see why that will cause droughts.
Nintendo, by avoiding development for 2 separate systems, can use the team that develops 2 Marios, to make one and something else (the same for other Nintendo studios).
That being, Switch can have more games per year and even end his life with enough support - unlike other consoles like Wii U, for exemple.

The only problem Nintendo will have is not producing enough of Switch. The thing will run Unity and Unreal 4. It will probably run most engines you throw at it.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Why not? They've always made home console Monster Hunter games in the past. Why would Switch be the exception?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Have you any idea how much a MH game cost to make?

I understand your fear. Some developers might migrate to mobile console due to increased development cost. But it really depends on how well NS sale will be. If the userbase is high, games will come to NS

They have it set to "off"? Hahahaha.

I didn't really fully grasp your OP, but you're basically still worried about droughts because they will be making more intricate, more advanced games? Hard to say, I guess. The Switch is primarily a home console so my guess games will definitely be more high-end and we can expect longer development. The games should be consistent though, like it would be off putting if some games were meant/budgeted or at the quality of a handheld, then others that are more along the lines of full blown, AAAs.

I'm still confused.

I think I get his point

It's not going to be easy for devs that have been working with n64-psone era graphics on small screens to something bigger, sort of HD that has to look good on a big TV. Wasn't easy for Nintendo main studios to jump from Wii to Wii U without some developement troubles and I don't expect it to be easy for devs that have been working on 3DS to support something that Nintendo says it's a homeconsole.

Obviously, support will be way better than Wii U and hopefully on 3DS level, but people get way too excited and are too quick to assume NS software will be Wii U+3ds
