Forums - Gaming - So what was the super secret NX feature Nintendo didn't want anyone to copy?

Probably the hybrid thing. Nothing unique to be copied from Sony and Microsoft imo.

I didn t see anything that needed to be kept a secret.
It s a bunch of old ideas taped together.

I don't think it has another secret gimmick. Besides being able to be used as a tablet to play mobile games. They are really careful about this one, I think they are afraid of the backlash from gamers and the console being seen as a casual device.

To me they are trying too much to make it a device gamer, right down to the ugly grey/black... On one side I m happy because, well I m the targeted demographic.
On the other side I think the Switch will fail to capture the casual audience. And will have a mild success with gamers.
And I don t think that it will be a win for Nintendo

I don't see it necessary for this to be some super big hit.
It needs to do better than Wii U, but that's not saying much.
But with mediocre success, they can unify their handheld/console games.
That simplifies their offering alot, and the savings can go into better/more games.
That's just a more sustainable model, even with mediocre sales.
Nobody expects them to recreate Wii style success, they don't need to.
This is a solid upgrade for 3DS customers, and it's livingroom utility
means those customers have a big screen more social way to game.
(along with dubious multiplayer detached controller thing)
The hybrid thing makes it even more desirable as 2nd console for MS/Sony gamers.
We'll see what console/toaster mode looks like power-wise,
but with what looks like good 3rd party and 1st party support,
it should do decently well, assuming they can keep costs down, hopefully $250.

I'm not sure they had Sony and MS in mind when they thought about someone copying their idea.

This. Samsung, Apple, and now Google are more likely to use the NS ideas than Sony/MS.

I want to know Morpheus' reaction, you know the Chinese guys. They need to be interviewed.

Docking stations for phones incomeing.

I could see that happending.

I honestly don't know. So far they've showed nothing that someone else hasn't already done.

Please excuse my bad English.

I think they will show tons of types of controllers for different games that you can slide on and off. Nintendo did say they have more to show and lots of accessories. That might be it.
