Who cares about digital distribution anyways, it's not that big of a deal. Much like proper online account systems and game features, no one uses these.

half of the world disagree with you

I think he was being sarcastic, lol.

Hey tech guys: the storage space in the cartridges for the NES and SNES games was modular and could be extended. Is this also possible with these cartridges in the Switch? Aren't they basically the same like the 3DS ones?

Indeed I was. I've bought about 150 digital games in the last 5-6 years and around 15-20 physical copies.

Aren't games going to run straight off the cart?

Shouldn't the real question be why Nintendo only provides so little internal storage? People who actually buy an SD card for the Switch should be the minority.

You wololo'd the switch.  You rock my friend.

Yes, but not digital ones, obviously. The Wii U got a lot of flack for its poor compatability with the needs of a modern gaming market, digital games are taking a bigger and bigger piece of the pie and it also saves costs for publishers and can benefit consumers through lower prices overall. Switch seems not to be adapted to the modern market, in typical Nintendo style. 128GB is not much today, especially if you're using it as a multimedia and camera device in addition, there are even smartphones out now that have 128Gb storage and 64 is becoming more or less standard with the next batch of phones. Both PS and Xbox now offer 1TB versions of their consoles out of the box, there's obviously both a need and demand for bigger storage, especially in home consoles.

This is yet another indication that Nintendo don't seem to know themselves what exactly the Switch is. Is it supposed to replace people's tablets? Then it needs some serious app compatibility, camera and great multimedia functions and browser(s). Addition to mobiles? How and why? It's obviously for playing games and I can't see a huge market for consumers wanting a tablet that doesn't double as a multimedia and surfing device and requires a bunch of cartridges to be carried along with it for mobile gaming, and if storage is this limited, digital options will be fewer, modern big budget titles are 20-50GB, depending on a few things (but I think that mobile, big budget gaming is a pipe dream anyway, so there is that). Not to mention complications with pricing if it has a lot of functions, in addition to forcing it into constant revision, a static device will be murdered in revisionist territory with more casual minded consumers. Yes; just like any other modern console, you can buy more storage, but it would lack basic capacity for digital gaming out of the box, and flash and SD memory is still crazy expensive if you want any proper size.

To top it all off, Nintendo are calling this device a "home gaming system", which makes the confusion complete and total for me, especially if these rumors are in any way true, it will be severely lacking compared to the competition in the home console space, on almost all aspects and fronts and it will have to go to direct war with smartphones and tablets, or become their ally, both scenarios seem incredibly unrealistic from where I'm sitting. But, hey, what do I know, maybe there's a secret master plan they haven't unveiled yet! Who knows what's gonna happen.

Honestly, to me it looks like they're aiming for versatility and approachability, but I fear that this is yet another bipolar concept that will fail to draw in more "serious" consumers on account of being beaten on functionality by more specialized and poised devices and potentially ruin the approachability through pricing, compatablity and lack of understanding of how the modern market and its consumers work.
