As we know, the PS4 Pro is just around the corner, and I have my sites on it. I've been doing a little research, and it seems that the PS4 cannot store media such as pictures and music on its HDD. The system can only playback these files if it serves as a media server such as a PC or an external source such as a flash drive. I personally love having my audio ripped to my PS3 and would like to do the same with the PS4. Is there a legit reason why Sony is not allowing the storage of these media on the PS4 HDD?

Oh well there is one massive reason you can't rip your music from CD's into the PS4's HDD.... it can't play Music CDs at all, like... if you put a audio CD in there it just spins up for a second and does nothing with it. But yeah I remember you could just fill a usb stick with mp3s and copy them all onto the PS3 HDD for storage.
That said though... the PS3 could not play Audio from the HDD during all games, I still remember laughing our ass's off in a mates place because every time we finished a game of Street Fighter 4 the PS3 would restart the MP3 that he had put going before we started to play our rounds, but in game the audio playback would stop and restart again on returning to the menu for a minute... think we heard the start of "back in the new york groove" about 100 times that night lol. The ps4 on the other hand can have spotify running during all games, and it has a very nice volume slider to adjust so you can get a perfect mix between in game SFX of cars in driveclub and your own custom soundtracks.
Oh... there is one time the PS4 can't have music playing! When remote playing to the Vita, it does not allow you stream Spotify to the Vita from the console.
