Forums - Nintendo - Pokemon Go Back to No. 1 on Top-Grossing Chart After Halloween Update

I was wondering why i was seeing so many Gastly's, Cubones, Meowths etc... explains why.

I got a Gengar and a Magmar so far through this event. Events like these, plus more meaningful updates can help keep Pokemon Go around.

Now what if...

..they release Gen 2?!

I always said it would fall off pretty quickly and see slight boosts with smaller updates, right up until it blows up again when Gen 2 is released.

Awesome! Nice to see a re-surface of Go. When the trailer for the Halloween event was posted to youtube, I read a lot of comments saying "People are still playing this?" I was kinda bummed people fell out of it, but it's nice to see people are coming back. I sure was excited for the event.

In terms of top grossing sure it has because the players of it have reason now to buy a few incubators with the boosted candies to get the final few Pokemon evolutions to finish off the Gen 1 Pokedex, however in terms of popular apps the game is still around the 30-40 mark showing that players who stopped playing it, haven't actually bothered to reinstall the game to check out this event, and dear god if they did... it is boring as fuck.

Adding in more ghosts seems like a good idea, but that is not what Niantic did, all they have done is swapped out effectly all the spawns with Gastlys/cubones and Drowsee, so what was once a rare set of pokemon has now become the weedle/pidgey/rattata for the week, while you get double candies for any catchs... there are no catches to be found except for these Pokemon (and water pokemon, these were not effected by the change so can catch some bonus candies for these).

Said it once I'll say it a thousand times, Pokemon Go has more flaws than it has features, there is still no tracking, no trading and no actual player battling, it is missing the core functions which existed in Pokemon games, you do not battle wild pokemon, just throw balls at them until they are caught, you then grind up those caught pokemon to feed their candies to other ones of the same families to evolve them... I mean did the ceo of Niantic ever play one of the games previous to creating this reskin of ingress?

Niantic if anything damaged the IP with this mobile game in the long term, as they are the ones who were chosen to champion it and now another mobile app will always be tainted with how poorly this one was handled by Niantic.

And this goes to show that, Niantic just needs to add a new generation and trade and a few new features to make GO extremely popular again

As stated below, it changed to be the top grossing, it did not change it's rank on the most popular apps, it is still in the 30s-40s of that, below banking apps and generic alarm clock apps now.

I'm seeing a lot of potential with hats and accessories being implemented. Also gen 2, of course.

Team fortress 2 - you have met your match

Niantic is taking its sweet time on something like that. Squirtle squad shades Squirtle, pimp hat Pikachu, singer Jigglypuff. Also, shinies.
