Forums - Gaming - PlayStation Vue support launches for Android TVs today.

That rounds things up device wise. The only major player missing is TVOS.

Now they need to wrap up the rest of the local channels and local sports. With Hulu, Youtube, and many more competitors coming next year, locals will have to get with the times or become a thing of the past.

They have done great things with Vue. Now they need to integrate Vue into PS4 OS to drive up the value of their hardware, and allow competitors on PS4 OS to give people choice.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. If it's coming to android, it won't be long before other devices such as Chromecast, Firestick etc start having it

Once it's firmly established, I can See Sony having their own dedicated channel with their own programmes and films on there. Imagine Crackle, but with proper financial backing.

I Think Sony might become the first major IPTV service player and if they can get their shit sorted, they may even lead the world in it.

Not sure how much Sky and Virgin make since Sky make tons by selling Broadband, TV and telephone packages, have their own channels and their subscription service. Virgin has phone, broadband, cable and ppv packages.

Sony at the moment only offers IPTV meaning you still have to take out broadband with someone else.

Those all alrwady have it. The only platforms that currently dont have it are PC, Mac, Web OS, Tizen and Linux. Android TV just got support now.

And by all indications, Sony seems to be on track to become the biggest IPTV service provider and with the speed they are expanding itoes seem they have got their shit sorted.

just this year alone they came outta beta, added Roku tv support to already existing IOS, Amazon devices, Chromecast, PS4 and PS3, added HBO and in a way that makes it better than people that just subscribe for HBO go (cause with the one subscription in vue you get HBO go and the HBO live feed too) and now just added Android tv with PC and Mac coming this year.

Thanks for the replies guys. Hopefully it becomes a big financial success for them. Always good to expand the playstation brand.

Shit, didn't realise how many devices it was on. however, I'm wondering how quick they can go across America and then across EU. when they announced the PS4 and partnership with Virgin, I was hoping it would mean we will get Vue soon in the UK, but not a word has been said since then.

Virgin have the money and resources to beat them to the punch here.

I look forward to it landing on Xbox One. Seriously, I think this will happen.

If by america you mean NA then that also happened this year. It went nation wide. Next up is canada, then if they follow the more popular global proliferation that other services have used, then it would be UK, parts of europe, then south America and the Pacific next.

Real question is just how quickly they intend on expanding the service. But unless they have been working on it already, going into the Uk and Europe is another totally new can of worms. There's a lot of red tape to cut through when it comes to these things.

There isn't any reason why it wouldn't. Especially if sony is serious about competing with along tv, it actually makes no sense for them to make a Windows version of the app that doesn't work on the XB1 cvause that would mean they are making an old schoolstyle off with does app anyways. If they made a UWP app then not only would that work seamlessly across every single MS software (including the arm based windows systems) it would also work on the XB1.

And it works great.  You know those colored buttons on the TV remote that's pretty much good for nothing?  Well, PS Vue makes use of those buttons similar to the face buttons on a Dual Shock.  Also, it makes use of the channel +/- buttons as well to cycle through your favorite channels.  If you had PS Vue running via PS3, those channel buttons will change the channels of your TV, not the channels on Vue.

In a previous thread I made, I complained about the Guide screen.  No problems with it now with Vue running on the TV.

The only convenience you don't have with a conventional remote are the lack of L1 and R1 buttons which allows instant access to your favorite shows and adding a show to your favorites, respectively.  Those optons are still accessble by on screen options.
