Go look at 14th Dec 2013 (about a month after Launch).

the PS4 did ~3M  and the XB1 ~2.2M

Mind you these are units sold, not shipped.

So its "less" than what the XB1 or PS4 shipped by alot.

That depends on the details of the Switch's launch tbh because it's 2m shipped at the end of the fiscal year which doesn't really mean only 2m shipped in the first full month as Switch could launch late March which would mean only one week.

Seems kinda low.

3DS at $250 shipped 3.61 million launching in Japan in late Feburary and US/Europe in the last week of March. Keep in mind though Japan had that monstrous earthquake right after the 3DS launched, so supply was cut off, but I think they were hoping to ship 4 million.

2 million if it's worldwide means like 660k for Japan, North/Central/South America, and Europe/Australia a piece ... or someone is getting the shaft with supply (I'm guessing Europe).

Nintendo might be gun shy because of poor 3DS and Wii U launches, not wanting to get stuck with unsold inventory. March is also not the Christmas holiday season, so they don't have the same leeway of a seasonal shopping boost.

Keeping supply constraint untill holiday 2017 when a big shipment arrives, could work out wel for them. If they can pull such a thing off and the marketing works like a charm. In any case, i got it preordered :).

So first shipment will stand at 2 million. Lucky me that I live in Romania and will be able to pick one up from the store day 1 without having to wait in line

Not a lot of Nintendo love in Romania?

Mostly a Sony/PC country, but you can buy anything launch day, as people usually dont rush to get consoles day 1.

Until the system is fully detailed and Nintendo are no longer in this state of secrecy, people will continue to overreact to every ambigious wording that gets reported.

"*may not be the final colour*" - Nintendo

"OMFG IT'S GONNA BE NEON PINK WITH A GLOWING RAINBOW TRIM AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO BUY IT ANY OTHER COLOUR!!!!" - the internet.

Lol, post of the week :D

That can't be right, BotW alone should sell that much. I know Nintendo always lowballs it but that seems much too low, unless they know they screwed up somewhere (price/launch line-up/etc.).

So, they're. It expecting the Switch to sell as well as the 3DS which did 3.61M up until the 31st of March.

g'luck with that.

what little hype i had for switch died when they suggested 3DS will be getting a proper successor after switch.

I wouldn't believe them in that. They also said DS would not replace the GB line, lol.

I remember Nintendo pushing to much Wii U supply in the past and having issue with that. So they'll like want to prevent that this time.
