Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: "You shouldn’t assume what you saw on the video represents actual Switch game footage"

So much for people promising Nintendo wouldn't do this...

And another confirmation this is a handheld with a dock... "the mobility of HH with the power of a console" that is basically screaming powerful HH.

Which, ironically, considering the conversation above, was ME!

Why would at all showed at all NBA 2k and Skyrim running at Switch if they don't coming on Switch. There is zero sense, not to mention that both Bethesda and 2K confirmed support of Switch.

I find it a bit hilarious that it seems so far fetched to you that Nintnedo might have been a little "optimistic" in its marketing. It has used PS3 and X360 gameplay footage in previous commericals. Why does it seem so unreasonable that Nintendo might have done something similar again, except maybe for a game that isn't even in development. Have you considered that perhaps Nintendo included Skyrim in their ad as a way of trying to force Bethesda's hand to make the game? If Nintendo's NDA's are so taught that 2K Sports and Bethesda can't even announced games that were shown in the announcement video of a console to a point where people have legitimate concerns over whether those games are actually coming to those platforms, then Nintendo has dropped the ball. You need to come to terms with that.

Besides, the word "support" is a pretty vague wording. It could quite literally mean Nintendo asked for Bethesda's input when developing the NS, and Bethesda did so. In no way did their statement concretely say they were bringing games to the NS at all, much less Skyrim, much less the HD remaster. Any interpretation that says otherwise is "extremely optimistic" as mods here would undoubtedly prefer me to say.

It's totally different situation when you use footage of gameplay of another console of game that actually coming to your platform, and to show 3rd party game running on your system that actually doesn't coming at all to your system. It doesn't make sense at all.

Lol, using Skyrim on Switch to try to force Bethesda to make the games!? Bethesda would sued them and take millions of dollars from them.

Fact that almost none of partners from list did not confirmed or announced some specific game for Switch proves that isn't only about Bethesda and 2k, Nintendo even did not confirmed own games from Switch trailer (expect Zelda). Nintendo did not dropped ball, this trailer wasnt about games, focus was just on concept, games are just used to show that concept but offcourse they will use games that will come on platform, not just some random games, and they will talk about games another time, like Nintendo said:

"This video is all about explaining how the Nintendo Switch work. At a later date, before the March launch, we'll be talking about things like exact launch date, and of course, the games."

If you are platform holder and 3rd party say they are partner for your platform and they will suport your platform, you relly dont have nothing vague about that.

“We’re happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Nintendo on the video. While we are not confirming any specific titles at this time, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details in the future.” - Bethesda representative

There is nothing vague about this statement.

I don't get the backlash or confusion. The trailer made sense to me. I saw the console, I saw how it worked and the footage showed were meant to show what the console itself called do, be played at home or on the road. My sibling, who games a little less than I do, watched it and understands it. It's a teaser, a preview, a small trailer. What more do you want besides confirmed games? They'll talk about it at a later date.

All the hoopla about the Skyrim footage is odd to me. Bethesda signed off as their trademark is at the end of the trailer and they've confirmed to be working with Nintendo on Switch. Whether that will be related to Skyrim remastered or something, we'all find out.

It's just the usual "these images are not indicative of the final product" PR talk. It's obvious we are getting a new 3D Mario title, whether the brief footage we see represents an actual in-game level or not. They wouldn't have Bethesda do a Skyrim mockup if they weren't planning on releasing a version on the Switch. Same thing for NBA 2K17. Splatoon and MK are obviously just enhanced or remastered from the Wii U versions. And we've obviously seen Zelda in action already so we know what we're getting there,

I wasn't talking about the media.

I know you wasn't. I edited my post to best express what I thought. You people just jump in with your agenda accusations without knowing anything about people's views on other Switch related topics. I'm sure we'll meet again somewhere. Probably in a Sony thread as usual ...

And that's a lie, I barely go to any Sony thread and I haven't said a single bad thing about a sony game or console in ages, check your facts.

on the other hand:

"Yes it is, I only see people with an agenda trying to minimize the negativity surrounding the release of the Nintendo Switch."

This door swings both ways.

Except this is objectively not a big deal, just something common that everybody does, things of this teaser are subject to change, oh what a disaster.

Opinions are never objective things.

Tell me, can you objectively say with 100% certainty at this point that Skyrim HD Remastered is coming to the Nintendo Switch? I"m not saying likely, I'm not saying "well I don't think Nintendo would do that". I'm saying can you say that you know for a fact that that Skyrim HD Remastered is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

No you cannot.

But there are thousands, if not millions of people out there that think that it is because of this reveal. there are thousands, if not millions of people out there that think that think the Nintendo Switch is powerful enough to play games as technologically demanding as Skyrim HD Remastered. Those people will justifiably feel betrayed and misled if it turns out that this game actually is not coming to the Nintendo Switch.

You might sweep that under the rug, and pass it of as a non-issue. But there are plenty here who would wholeheartedly disagree.

Sorry, I was just quick replying to OP and hadn't read posts yet.

But we had some threads of people saying Nintendo wouldn't ever show what wasn't already commited to launch on Switch and that graphics would be better in the next flow of games because those were only ports from WiiU.

So they are 6 months from launch and doesn't have a single show piece of a game even after 18 months of leaks? Well we can certainly compare that to PS4 and X1 reveal. And now we truly now why nintendo won't talk more about the system until 2017 and why they decided to launch this teaser close to Pro launch.

They should've done the following in a conference or something:

1) show the console (the look, what it will do, etc.)

2) show the games

3) show that little video with the console showing everything it can do with actual games coming for it

If this kind of advertizement doesn't matter then during next reveal Microsoft should show footage of a Mario game running in the next Xbox and no one should complain because everyone should understand what not to expect in the future even if it is shown during a reveal.

Well technically you can play Mario games on your XB1 by hooking up your Wii U to it via HDMI passthrough, soooooo... it wouldn't be entirely inaccurate if M$ said a new Mario was coming to the X1 and showed "footage" of it on X1 lol.

I spent the whole Skyrim advert thread saying 'this isn't on Nintendo' and went to great length to explain why I thought, logically, it wasn't on them. In this thread I get accused of having an agenda because I've conceded this is turning into a cock up. What can you say ... ?
