Actually, if anything it shows that was a brilliant idea.

Get a wad of cash from Microsoft, no doubt increasing the Xbox version sales as well, but at the same time not even damaging sales of the PS4 version. I don`t see any negatives.

Unless you have the numbers to show how much MS is paying EA for these exclusivity.

That would only matter if it had to cover a loss of sales for the PS version, but the PS4 version looks to be breaking records for sales rather than losing them. So with no loss to cover any money they got from the MS deal is pretty much pure profit, so regardless of whether they got a single cent or a few million it`s still a gain for EA.

That would be you assuming that the deal make Fifa sales for Xbox bigger but wouldn't for PS4, that isn't very logical.

Why isn`t that logical? There isn`t really much room to increase PS4 FIFA sales, it`s already selling to most people and is the default system for it regardless of marketing deals. Xbox on the other hand has very limited presence in europe so the addition of FIFA marketing along with other Xbox exclusive games encourages people to get FIFA as well as those.

And what arbitrary metric are you using to define there isn't room to increase PS4 version but there still is for X1?

You know last year I would have agreed but then this year it went onto massively increase.  I just don't know anymore.  this series is insane.

FIFA games get better every year and the install base increases every year. It makes sense that it's gonna dominate.

Obviously they will hit a roof at some point, but while EA Sports continue to release high quality games for the most popular sport in the world, then they're probably gonna see record breaking numbers every year.

It`s not about being 1st place, it`s about how many they are selling.

PS4`s so popular already that I see any and all marketing deals as a waste of money for Sony. Their console is going to sell the best and that game will sell best on their console regardless of whether they are spending money to get exclusive marketing deals or not.

Perhaps, but even so Apple still make ads on their iPhones, McDonalds on their burguers, etc... so the is no waste on marketing, you are either fighting to increase your marketshare, increase your sales or at least mantain your position you don't simply pull down.

Yeah, and possibly Sony's FIFA marketing is waay bigger than EA+MS special deals. I mean Champions League PS4+FIFA17 ads.

Without numbers we can't know but it's probably bigger, not sure why Sony isn't upset on the special threatment of the sku selling 1/3 of their.
