Forums - Gaming Discussion - So Nintendo officially quit console gaming. Switch is a handheld system

No, its both, something that Nintendo should just admit.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

If the docking station doesn't add any more graphical boost, I might be a bit disappointed - at least of we go by the rumored specs that's floating around right now! I'm perfectly happy with the idea of a hybrid console, but I don't want my experience ruined on the TV because of inferior specs.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

If it plays on a TV then.. it must be just a handheld :p

Only when it's plugged into a TV, which isnt all that often :p

Switch is a gaming tablet, I'd say Nintendo left the dedicated console business, and I believe that handhelds are consoles too.

As a home console it's not great IMO, lacking power and stuffs.
As a handheld, it's the most powerful handheld ever made. Buuuuut, it's quite big, it looks like you could easily break it, damage it, and we still need to have info on the battery.

But yes, it's a portable system that plugs into a tv. Any people calling it something else are just wrong.

And if it's more of a handheld we still need to know how they plan to stop tablets and smartphones to eating their marketshare.

I guess my tablet is a hybrid device too.

But is it a good one? The semantics alone are pointless really, ouya is a dedicated home console, does that means it's a better home device than Switch?

I still think they will have some kind of handheld concept going forward. Like a Switch mini that truly replaces the 3ds (smaller, weaker resolution, but can still play the same games and has better battery life?).

That being said, if Nintendo had just one device I'd love that. Half the hardware payments and twice the chance of no software droughts.

Wrong it's a Hybrid.
