You can use them like that when you are playing on TV too, on any position you like.

It's like a mini remote, the wiimote and nunchuck, but I would prefer holding it in both hands because it would be more natural to me :p

I get tired of that position often, but maybe is just me, I though several times on how confortable would be a wii like gamepad if it didn't had that cable in the middle and this kind of like that.

I like that the first pic confirms you don't need the joy-con grip (will get it regardless lol).

The best part will be all the variations to fit people's comfort levels!

Can't wait!

Eh, personally I'm not crazy about it. I still prefer conventional controllers, but choices are always a plus. That tiny control is hilarious though.

But, sure, they are really, really cool. People can decide which controller they like the most. A traditional one? Check. Detachable controlers with motion controls like the Wiimote? Check. You can use them for playing local coop with your friends when you're bored in the bus or something. The concept is just ridiculously good imo. Highly marketable, and with an insane ammount of potential.

Agree, but I don't think this has motion controls at all

I don't like them at all.

They'd be extremely awkward without any support if you're playing anything that depends on speed. How are you going to support the device when you have to quickly move your thumb back and forth from the stick to the buttons? It's the return of the Claw. The guy in the airplane picture looks like he's in hell. In the real world, he'd switch back to Vita-mode in about 5 more minutes.

The picture below it, with the people gathered around a small screen at a party playing on tiny controllers ... yeah. That would be lucky to last 10 minutes. Which, actually, makes me wonder if you can dock your Switch into someone else's station, if you know what I mean.

The best thing about this gimmick is that you don't have to use it (I assume). The worst thing is that it adds cost and increases the chances of loss or product failure. If I bought one, I can't imagine using them like that except once on a blue moon.

I love it as an extra option.
As mentioned it breaks into 2 controllers if you do wish to play on the go with a friend or you can just use 2 pieces as one OR bring the connector with you and play like the guy at the beginning of the trailer.

Using 2 pieces as 1 controller just seems like the wiimote situation to me and I never ever had an issue using that as a controller so personally I' m quite alright with this.

I'm not seeing that problem, this is like Wii controllers without cable, I'm gonna be using this a lot, looks confortable to be able to play in any position, at least in games that are not specially intense, I think what you see in the boy face is nothing more than your worries projected there.

But anyway, as you say, if you don't like it you can skip it, I think many people is gonna like it once they put their hands on it.

Probably going to use the pro controller most of the time.
